Disc Copier

Graywolf

Question

When I try to start "Convert Video" from within "Copy & Convert" the "Disc Copier" screen never goes away. I have tried it several times and it just will not complete loading, it is also using 99% of my CPU. When it has worked in the past it took only 5 seconds to load. I have rebooted several time and it sill will not load. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so what can be done to solve this problem. Also has anyone ever gotten a response from any e-mail they have sent Roxio, I have sent two and no response yet. The last one was sent over a week and a half ago. Is this common?

Well today, 6/13, I tried to start Disc Copier and nothing I tried worked, it just would not start. I always hangs at 19K using 97-100% cpu. Last night some Microsoft security updates were applied to my computer. This is the only difference between working and not working. I am get real tired of this product. I cannot get Roxio to answer any of my e-mails and RoxAnna is worthless.

Check that the updates didn't install WMP 11 or IE 7. They can corrupt your install. If they were installed, rollback and see if it'll work.

couple of questions:

Have you added anything new in the software department (including updates) since it last worked? If it worked before and then stopped, check for anything that may have changed round that time (including MS updates like IE7 and WMP11)

Also, what are you trying to copy? If it is commercial DVDs, then the program simply won't do it (it's illegal)

It worked Friday, 6/8, did not work Sat. 6/9 then worked again Sun. 6/10. When I got it to work on Sunday I frist start TiVo Desktop and looked for movies on my TiVo. The started Copy & Convert, then Dics Convert. I worked fine. (I am coping TiVo movies). I think I have to have TiVo Desktop up and running before it runs, not sure, but will try this sequence of events again tonight. To answer your question about new software, I have not added any between success and failure then success again.

You are lucky, at least you got yours to load - I cannot get mine to load at all, and no response or any available upgrades.

Ray - it's impossible to get ANY response here if you just make one post saying you had no response

Start a new thread, say exactly what you're doing and with what, give any error messages and also say what the system is (CPU, Graphics, RAM) and so on

I agree with you. I tried it last night without TiVo Desktop running and it would not load. Then I started TiVo and it loaded fine. After a successful load I ended TiVo Desktop and from that point on I could load Convert without TiVo loaded. I found it need to be loaded on the first time. It would be nice if Roxio would have some detail instructions on the use of their products. Maybe they need to hire a documentation person to accomplish this.

Hi Graywolf,

From my experience with the program I think you do have to have Tivo Desktop running at the time.

using the site menus go to:

Support Tab > Support Home > Contact Support Link on right side

Login and file a ticket. Took them a month to finally respond to me and they backdated the ticket to the day after, then I got a complete runaround with no answer for two additional months.

Roxio doesn't listen or respond to customers, so good luck.
