"select thumbnail" greyed out in MyDVD menu

I'm using MyDVD to build DVDs. I create a menu and then click "add movie" and select a nice hi rez mpg file. The file imports properly, the name comes up on the menu, and I can edit the text, all that, and it plays properly.

 

However, if i want to add a thumbnail, i cant. I right click the menu entry and a bunch of options are listed but "select thumbnail" is greyed out. Doesnt matter what kind of movie, i've tried several formats... and i've tried several preset menu styles.

 

Other than that, the DVDs burn perfectly and play in two different DVD players. But I would like to be able to have a thumbnail on the menu for each chapter/movie.

 

Any help would be appreciated

If I remember correctly, this is not available on main menus. If you add your entire movie, right click on it and select "Edit Chapters", it will create a chapter menu. From this chapter menu, you can edit the thumbnails of each chapter.

thanks, i'll try that. I did try "change button style" but i did not drag and drop a button style. What I did do, was select a style that appeared to have a thumbnail, and then select "make this for all buttons on the menu" but it still did not work.

 

Am I creating a menu that will not display thumbnails by default? Whats weird to me, is that when i change menu style, or even select a menu style, I get a dialog box showing three different styles, a beach one and some other stuff. I click on the beach one that shows thumbnails, but when it shows up in my workspace, the thumbnails are immediately replaced by just text.

 

Is there a setting somewhere I'm missing?

There are about 12 at least 20 menu styles available in MyDVD. Do you have the full EMC 9 suite? What version do you have?

If you only have three menu styles, it sounds like you never installed the content disc. Do that if you havn't.

thanks. I have the Full EMC 9 suite but no, I did not install the content disc and I will try that.

 

Still, that doesnt explain why the Beach menu style with thumbnails shows up as an option, but when i select it, it shows up in my workspace as Beach menu with text and not thumbnails... i wonder if i am somehow selecting it "wrong"

 

I'll install the content tonight and see if it changes anything

If you've already started on your movie, then it might keep the old button styles. Try doing what malatekid said, and drag the button style onto your button.
