Burned DVD movies dont look as good as original mpg

Question

Newbie here. Had Roxio 7 for a long time but just last night upgraded to 9.

I've successfully burnt a couple of compilation DVDs last night. The original files were hi rez mpgs that looked amazing on my computer, ripped from some DVD movies i bought.

MyDVD burned the DVDs properly, they do play on two different DVD players, but the movies dont look as good as the originals. Theres some apparent grainy distortion, slight, but noticeable.

The original bought movies were ripped into mpg by Pinnacle; then i editted them with Video-Re-Do, a non-destructive non-re-muxxing application. The resulting mpgs looked beautiful on computer. Not as good on MyDVD burned DVD. Close, but not as good.

Any advice? Am I doing this wrong or should this be expected? Is this normal?

thanks

Did MyDVD re-encode these? If so, you might notice it.

Unless one dosen't understand the english language, I would say yes!

I was under the impression that talk wasn't allowed here, because of legal issues.
