comiskey
I'm a newbie w/ this software: I have an audio track that goes into a section of video that I want to delete. For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to delete just the video and leave the audio. I am going crazy. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! malatekid
Another way would be to add an image or color panel as an overlay to the video. Make it just long enough to cover the length of the video you want to blank out. That's even better, Steve!

Make it just long enough to cover the length of the video you want to blank out. I'm just confused. I wish there was just a way to "shift" the audio only. What do you mean by "add an image?" What exactly is an overlay? The internal Help does not clarify things. Thanks!
malatekid
You are using Videowave, are you? In Story mode, bring in the video. Switch to Timeline mode. Click Add Photo/Video, choose an image (or a picture) and choose the option where it says to add the selected image as an overlay. Now you have a video on the main track AND an image on the overlay track. Adjust the duration of the overlay image to span the duration of the audio that you want to hear. Let us know how it goes. Okay...I sort of know where you're going w/ this, but what if I don't want this other "image" in my video? And why won't it let you "shift" the audio by itself. Another issue I'm having is the whole audio in a segment seems to have shifted when I insert it. I view the video with Windows Media Player and it's fine, but in VideoWave, it is off 2-3 seconds. Why does that happen? Thanks!

Perhaps were are misunderstanding what you want to do. Where are you going to shift the audio to? It has to exist with something on the video track. You cannot have 5 minutes of video and 5 1/4 or more of audio. It has to be an equal time frame. Your original posts said that you wanted all the audio but did the video ended too soon. That is why we suggested a color panel. I mistakenly suggested an overlay because I thought that the part you did not want to see was in the middle and not the end -- that shift fooled me. That last panel could be an image of something, a title with text, just a colored panel to match the end of the video or just a long transition (fade) to black. It could be just black although it would be strange to have the audio with a black screen. Perhaps if you can explain it better? Give the actual example if you can. I have captured a video but the sound has a terrible buzz. I would like to seperate audio and video so that I can perhaps use 'Audio Editor' to attempt to clean the track up. If I can do this I would then like to overlay the new audio. I dont know if I'm using the correct terminology or even if it can be done but any help would be welcome. I captured with Pinnacle and the video clips are avi. Thanks The old guy

Thanks The old guy Best suggestions is to recapture if you can. If not, open Media Manager and navigate to the video file. Right click on it an select extract audio. Name the resulting wav file. Clean that up using Sound Editor. Put the video in VideoWave, click to show native track, select it and then mute it. Add that cleaned up audio to any of the other audio tracks (music, sound effects, etc) Move it as necessary to get it to line up. If you had the Deluxe version, you could use Sound Soap to clean up that wav file. If not, and you cannot clean it up enough, try downloading a trial version of Gold Wave to clean up the audio. That is my favorite for difficult jobs but there are others almost as good.

In Media Selector, right click on the video clip and select extract audio. In Videowave, insert a color panel and then add the extracted audio in that panel. Adjust the duration of the colored panel to match the duration of the audio.
