Missing Certificate File

mamaof4

Question

When I first got my new windows vista computer, Roxio worked fine. I burned several cds/dvds. Then one day it suddenly gave me the "Missing Certificate File" message. I spent hours on the phone with Roxio and HP and after trying many things...including a clean install a few times...it still doesn't work. I have let weeks go by, and now I was searching the site to see if any updates or solutions have been found and it doesn't seem that anything has. I know I am not the only one who was had this problem. It seems that a clean install has helped others, but it still doesn't work for me. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Before we start I'll say 2 things.1)Once you read this if you don't feel comfortable doing this then don't.2)Make sure you backup the registry before you do this.Go to File,Export and choose a location to save it to.Make sure you hit the dot at the bottom for All.

Now be careful and take our time.If you go to Start,Run and type in regedit you get the registry editor.Go to Edit,Find and type in Roxio and hit Find Next. This will take you to the first entry it finds in the registry that says "Roxio".You will see the Roxio entry lit up blue.Hit delete and respond yes. Then hit F3 and it will go to the next entry.Keep doing this until it comes back and tells you there an no more matches. If you're not sure about any of the entries just don't delete them.

Have you done this before during one of your uninstalls?

How do you do a manual registry cleaning? Honestly, I tried so many differnet things while spending time on the help lines with HP and Roxio that I don't know if that was one of them. If you can explain it that would be great. Thanks.

I had the same problem and found the following to resolve it.

When you did a clean install did you do a manual cleaning of the registry?

I had this happen in XP and that was the only way I fixed it.Just uninstalling and running a registry cleaner wasn't enough.Somewhere there was a leftover registry entry that I deleted that fixed it.
