SOUND OVERLAY

Bubbard

Question

Hello.

I have a HP Media 2005 Windows XP 1gB RAM and 750GB memory computer and use ROxio 9 (regular). Have a home video of a graduation. Much like Rocky II/III/IV...I would like to have an opening credits with a name scrolling across a background with ROcky music.....however, at the same time, I would like to take snipets of audio from different parts of the video and use them as background audio with the Rocky music..........my question is...how can I get just the snipets of audio withhout the video and cut and paste them to the actual background audio.

Thank you BJ B)

Roxio 9 regular is not a product name. Do you have Easy Media Creator 9 Suite, an OEM version of MyDVD 9 or something else? I appreciate that you put you computer specs in your question but the actual application would be helpful. If you have EMC 9, then the following will work. If you have something else, you may not have Sound Editor but the second option may work.

Go to Media Manager, navigate to the video file and right click it, you can extract the audio to a file and then edit out what you don't want in Sound Editor. Export what is left as a wav file. Put your Rocky Music on the main music track and put the snippets in any of the other audio tracks (like Narration) Move them around as needed. You can balance the volume of the tracks separately or silence one while the other is normal and vice-versa.

or you can put the video on the main track and cut out the sections you don't need, Put your background as an overlay and add the text.

The first suggestion is probably the better of the two if you have the full Suite. If you don't the second would probably work.

If you plan to come back and get more information, you might want to consider putting your computer specs in your signature via My Controls at the top of this page. Also remember to put in the information about your video device (card/chip) in case you are having problems with doing the video work.
