Sony Camcorder

bradshjc

Question

Will the Roxio software recognize my camcorder on the Vista operating system ? I have not been able to find any drivers for my camcorder from Sony for the Vista system, one web page I read said that most any third party software for vista would be of help to me and being able to download and edit video on the Vista operating system.

I want to get some sort of third party software but with the trouble I've been having trying to get up and running I need to get answers to questions before I spend more money

You could give the EMC9 Trial version a trial run and see if it works for you. You'll want to connect the camera using firewire.

I've got a Sony HDR-HC1E and I didn't need any special drivers for Vista x86 or x64, just plugged in via Firewire (IEEE1394) and Windows Media Import popped up. Related to EMC 9 Deluxe, I can't import video directly with EMC 9 under Vista x64 (so I just use Windows Media Import), but under Vista x86, it works fine.

I have a Sony mini DV and simply hooked it up with a firewire and was able to load all my video directly into Roxio. I could control the camera rewind, etc with the onscreen controls. I don't think you need software from Sony. My HP digital camera also works with Vista and and I did not load any HP drivers.
