Using an External USB2 hard drive to create DVD's

Rayi

Question

Hello. I was wondering if external USB2 hard drives are sufficient to use for Videowave to create DVD's (iso's). It's amazing how large of files avi makes. I have all my avi backuped up on external hard drives. I originally created all my DVD's on the internal IDE drives but all my home movies are over 500 gig (26 hours) when I was done. I now want to make a condensed version of all my home movies into perhaps 1 dual layer DVD.

I too have an external HD on my HP notebook computer and have burned DVD's from that HD on several occasions. One thing I have learned to do however is always place all of the files (photos, videos, audio and any other files I use for the DVD), all in the exact same folder on that exterior drive. Then if I ever want to edit the program for some reason, everything is always in the same place and doesn't get lost in some other folder and for archiving the information I want for that DVD.

I also have noticed that that if, possible, to save the Roxio file into the drive that contains the files your are working on. I always have more than one internal Drive, and save to them. I've learned to backup. Then if I do a reinstall, the Roxio files still seem to work. It seems lately, I have done more reinstalls than I care to.
