Audio CD burn

smolins

Question

In an earlier version of EMC there was a visual that showed gaps/overlaps at both the front end and back end of a song and the ability to audio playback. In EMC9 I can not find a graphic and only see a "pre" lead in. And after testing and playback (from 1 to 20 secs), that does not seem to work. How can I get the front/back adjustments for songs?

Thank you - Stephen

I liked V7 better also. I assume that you are using Sound Editor to do the audio editing. Just use the magnifier at the top right and then navigate to the start/end. With this Sound Editor, you have to use the top screen and the bottom screen. Select the piece of music from the bottom and then go to the top screen and navigate to the beginning and the end. If you want to adjust two pieces of music, joint the clips (bottom screen) then you can navigate to the end/beginning in the top screen. Cut out what you don't want. The image is busy bit I think I pointed out the key controls.

Thanks for the reply. Wow! Sounds much more complicated than V7. I was actually building an audio CD the V7 way by clicking Audio/Audio CD and then drag and drop the songs I wanted to burn. Even V8 allowed you to right click and though it was without the visual, it had the lag/lead times at both ends. Is this feature buried somwhwere in the Audio CD piece? If not, I'll give your suggestion a shot.

Thanks.

Also in Sound Editor you can add (Tools/insert silence) a specified time of silence anywhere (e.g. at the beginning and end of a clip). I use that quite a lot when converting my LPs to CD (e.g. classical music, for which one wants a different length of silence between movements of a piece than between pieces).

An alternative to sound editor, if you want to create an audio CD with separate tracks, is to use Music disc creator. You can select a transition to be an overlap or a gap and adjust the transition time, as well as several fade in/fade out options (including hard on/off).

If you select a transition gap, the time for the transition is added as a silence to the end of the preceding track (you can see that if after you burn the CD you rip it back to your PC and examine the tracks in Sound Editor).
