Easy Audio Capture Confusion

vventurella

Question

I've been trying to capture Audio tunes from a tape (via a recording) and also from the TV Digital music Channels. I note that whether I run a line from the recorder or the TV directly through the Mic In pot into Easy Audio Capture, the recording level slider, the auto button, as well as the Input bar is greyed out.

Why is this so? The way it is I can never control the levels. I've gone into the Control Panel's Sounds part and reset all sliders to no avail.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Perhaps I'm reading you post incorrectly. You should have two output ports from the tape (source) and only one going into your computer.

Audio "in" on your computer is only one port and not two. Make sure that the single plug is a stereo plug (two rings).. Your analog input jack is probably light blue. The following from Wikipedia.

What sound card do you have? Sound blaster has a feature called "what you hear" and you can use that for capturing from the INTERNET.

Someone else will have to help you with the Digital music channels.

You interpreted it correctly, I mistated it. I have a single audio in pot (blue). However I was using a portable tape player and recording from it through the earphone jack. I have a Realtek HD card.

I've played with the Voice Volume level (at a very low point since the power coming out of the TV connector is very high)in Control Panel and the Balance and now get both R and L Recorder levels mixing to about 50-60% and the fidelity of the Digital TV Channel music blends well.

Thanks for your help.

Are you using a laptop with only mic port? If so, that is the way it is. For simplicity of this discussion, the mic port volume is not controllable. You have to control the volume at the source or you could blow out your device. You can adjust the volume/play levels later.

If you are not using a laptop, connect to the line in and chose one of the other inputs based on your audio device. Just keep trying the options until you see/hear the music.

I'm not sure about the digital audio channels. It is possible that they are coded so that you can't capture. Are you getting the audio captured at the high level?

I'm using a desktop. I get an uncontrollable (and over the top) sound level when using the mic in with the digital music channel. I've tried this with what I suppose is the only line in I have, e.g. red and white audio in pot in the back of the PC at the level of the sound card. That didn't give anything usable; some recording power showed in the right channel/nothing in the left in the Easy Audio Capture box and the result is a lot of static. I might add that the 2 back pots (red/white) I connected with a Y cord so that I only had one input cord to the source wire.

When I use the mic/in with the sound from a Tape Player through its earphone connect , the result is OK, but I still get greyed area for control of the recording level.

Thanks again.
