greenda4
Hi, I just bought a new hard drive and I can't find m ECDC 5 Platinum CD. I have my old drive (120 Gb) as a backup drive and my new drive (250 Gb) as the boot drive. What I tried to do was install ECDC 5 from the roxio folder on my backup drive and the software installed, but when trying to use "Spin Doctor", it was reporting that I didn't have any amount of time left for recording, which looked like something was wrong. Also, when connecting my cassette deck like I used to have it, I didn't see any input levels moving. Anyne know what's wrong?? thanks, greenda4
Brendon
Hello Greenda4, Where did your Spin Doctor come from? Spin Doctor was a part of Easy CD Creator version 4, but it isn't in any of my Version 5 installer CDs. These are the applications you get in version 5 You're not mixing your versions, are you? Brendon Spin Doctor is found in Soundstream, (its in my ECDC 5 Platinum). Hi, I just bought a new hard drive and I can't find m ECDC 5 Platinum CD. Click "OK" and you will see the volume controls for recording. Insure Line-In is selected (checked) as your recording device and set to a proper level. greenda4
Spin Doctor is part of "SoundStream" found in ECDC5 Platinum. I went ahead and uninstalled the program using the "Zap" program found in these forums and when I click on the Setup.exe file found in the roxio 5 folder, I get a message saying "ECDC5 is incompatible with this version of Windows. Contact Roxio." What's ths about?? I went ahead and installed the program, but I get ino the problems that I stated in my original post. My OS is WinXP Pro SP2. gi7omy
When MS brought out SP2 for XP, it caused a lot of problems with ECD5 to such an extent that Roxio no longer supported it in SP2. However, if you go to the top of this forum you will see a pinned post on installing it (no guarantees tho) Having said that, do NOT let the computer install either Internet Explorer 7 or Media Player 11 or you will completely finish off ECD5
Brendon
Thanks folks, I was looking for cdspindr.exe in there, but version 5 incorporates it into the sndstrm.exe executable. My bad! (blush) Greenda4, now I've found it I have to report that it works in my XP-SP2. When I first opened up the recording part of Spin Doctor the 'Time Available for Recording' field was set at 00:00, because I never had a blank disc inserted. However when I set record to file and picked a drive or folder to send the file to, the Time Available came up to an expected figure. Is yours frozen on 00:00 despite directing the process to a file on a disc or hard disk which has space, or does this redirection bring it right for you? greenda4
Thanks for the reply guys. After using the "Zap" program, now when I click on the setup.exe file, hit continue, then set the language to "English", nohing happens. Before I was able to install the program, what happened?? greenda4
Brendon
I'm not sure how you managed to install it from your old drive to your new drive in the first place, unless you had a copy of the CD on the drive. I can only guess that the Roxizap brute force uninstaller has disappeared something your install was depending on. Do you still have your installer CD? You may need to clean out the Roxio stuff from your system and start again from the CD. Regards, Brendon

gi7omy
Not a lot unfortunately - it's either tear the house apart or see if you can get one from eBay or somewhere (as it's 4 versions back it should be fairly cheap)
