Reinstallation of DVD Creator 6.1 Basic

Recommended Posts

Last year I purchased the Easy CD & DVD Creator 6.1 Basic, DVD Edition. Started having problems with it and thought it might be best to uninstall and then reinstall it as I still had the disc. Had no trouble uninstalling it but when I tried to reinstall it, everything stopped when I tried to enter the 17 digit number for registration. The product was registered shortly after I bought it so I know it is registered as I can go online and see the registration number. My problem is that everything stops as I work myself through the reinstallation process. I have sent about 25 messages to Roxio asking them to help me but they have done nothing so far. Any suggestions? I can go no further.

Registration is when you let Roxio know you have the software. You've already done that, can you not just skip the registration part when it's offered during reinstallation.

Thanks for your kind response. What you say is the gist of my problem but it won't let me reinstall the program without going through the whole nine yards and reentering my CD key. I'm sure there must be some path around this but I am unable to find it - and Roxio is useless when it comes to solving the problem. I can pull my account up and there it is with my CD key as part of my account. I will keep trying. Thanks

If you have IE7 or WMP11 installed you will have to rollback to prior versions.

Care to share details on "everything stops…"???

Run the Roxizap program, at least twice, rebooting between runs. (ignore any version numbers it mentions, it will work)

Then try installing.

Jim, I ran the Roxizap two times, rebooted, and still was unable to get it to reinstall. Thanks

I don't have 6 Basic, but I do have Platinum. I'll go install it again and see if there's any sneaky way I can find to get around the re-registration bit.

It's approaching sleep-time here, so it may be half a day before I get back on this one.

Brendon

On a slightly side note here - the CD key is essential for a re-install and it has nothing to do with the registration. That usually kicks in AFTER the program has been installed.

The question is really, is it just not accepting the CD key or is it installing and hiccuping at the online registration?

Gentlemen, I was finally able to reinstall my software last night. The problem was caused when I originally downloaded the program from the Internet, also had them send me a backup disc. The two CD keys had somehow gotten crisscrossed and I was trying to reinstall the disc using the CD key for the Internet download. When I figured this out - and was able to retrieve the CD key for the disc - it was very simple. Roxio never told me I was using the wrong CD key. Believe it or not, the two programs had two different CD keys even though they were the same program. Thanks for your kind inputs, Bob
