Help With Dvd Builder Plz!

richardteam

Question

The DVD Builder works find untill... when I click the burn button, and get it ready to burn a DVD, it crashes, and the program just shuts down without a warning. First, in the process, it says that it 'opening project', and the goes to 'encoding title 1 of 6'... That's where it happens. The program just disappears! It closes completely, no warning, nothing. Just shuts down as if it was never open. The DVD disk capacity is fine, as it is 4.5 gigs out of 4.71 that the disk holds... and besides, this happens with every project I tried to re-burn, even small ones that are only about 1.7 gigabytes. This has never happened before untill now. It just doesn't burn. My computer seems to be alright, as the images that are already on my computer burn without a problem, and other programs also burn with no problem. It is the encoding process that makes it crash... I don't know how to fix it. The same project did burn before, and now it doesn't work. (The burning part does not even start, because it closes before it encodes the DVD). Can anyone help me? I'm not sure what to do... is there a button or something that I have to turn on? Maybe it's some other things on my computer... what should I do????

I use a Dell Dimension 4600, 2003 version

Windows XP Home, Service Pack 2

512 RAM, 74GB Single Hard Drive, DVD-/+RW drive, Intell Pentium 4 Processor at 2.4 Ghz...

As I said, it worked before... and now, nope.

It's not the burning that doesn't work... as I said, I can burn from image files... it's the encoding process that screws up. The first two seconds of encoding the first title makes the program just shut down - no warning, no error messages. It just terminates. I have no clue on what to do... so far, nobody helped me... I know you all are trying, and I appreciate it a lot, but there is just no results... I'm searching for ways myself for days, but I can't find anything... Also, if I know well, many people on the forums have the same issue... If somebody finds a solution, it's like finding the cure for cancer... You'll be the greatest wiz in history on this forum, and your topics will all be hot topics, even if I have to fake-reply a hundred replies on 5 different accounts... please... PLEASE!!!?!??!?!?! :)

You say you can burn from an image file? How can you create an image file, if the encoding doesn't work? The image file is created during the encoding process.

How much free space do you have on your system? What make/model of video card do you have? What kind of video clip are you using? Can you encode that video clip to an mpeg2 file in Videowave?

All the transitions work fine in EMC 7.5. If you are having problems with transitions then it may be because you do not have the latest drivers for your video card or you are not running DirectX 9c.

How did you get the video from your Digital Camera to you pc. I have no trouble capturing from my Sony DV camcorder.

All the drivers in my computer is up to date, as for how I transfered the video from the camcorder to the computer is, I just took the mini DVD-rw out of the camcorder and copied it straight to my computer. The camcorder burns the video to the mini DVD-rw and automatically makes it into a DVD once its finalized.

Hopefully that answered your question, as far as I can tell nothing wrong really happened. :)

Jeez Luiz, after all that trouble i've been to I finally figured out why it's not working. Heres what I did and myguggi is partly right on this, it has to do something about the source maybe because its formatted in a third party application(source was a Sony DigiCam, we all know that Sony is notorious for having generic stuff) maybe not, my computer can handle video editing so that is out of the equation, I was able to make a finished product burned in a dvd-r disc, but the sad thing it has no transitions the first production that I made had transition in every inbetween panels.

Maybe VideoWaves transition has some bugs(I hate bugs specially when playing BF2)? LOL

Ummm, Thanks for the help fellas appreciate y'alls input, if VideoWaves transition has bugs in it can someone mention this to the programmers please(so they can release a patch or what not).

WOOT! :)

Im not a NEWB, I'm a 2nd LT in BF2. Check out my stats *=SAS=*SrAMagistrado.

I PWN everybody. Not.

I've tried any means to output my VideoWave production in any media to no avail. I even tried creating a production using 2 different programs like Pinnacle Studio 9 and MovieMaker but it still didnt work, when I open the video file in Pinnacle it comes out with no sound while in MovieMaker the program freezes.

This presentation of mine is due tomorrow, I dont even want to burn a copy anymore i'll just take my computer to work and just show it from there but the question is, "is there anyway to preview a VideoWave production in fullscreen?". Thanks for them help.

If you have problems with the other programs also then it must be something wrong with your source or your computer system is not able to handle video editing because of some system problem.

There is no way to preview it full screen in VideoWave, but then you don't have to. If it doesn't preview correctly, then there is something corrupt in the production.

If you tried all the fixes posted, then the problem is your project. For a trial, delete the first couple of images and transitions or the first video and try rendering in VideoWave (output as a mpg.. for DVD...). If it renders, go back and add the images or transitions and try again.

Please post back; I have noticed that people on a short deadline never really come back to let us know the solution. Without it, we don't know if the advice is valuable.

PS More people will read your post if you start a new thread. You could reference or link to this one to show what you have tried.

Well, I have no idea about what kind of a video card I have, but I'll chech if I find out how... the rest of my computer stats I listed below. Also, I can re-render files to mpeg2, but that takes way too much space on my computer for some reason (like 200 megs/minute). Also, re-encoding all of the footage would be a headache, and besides, in my old projects I did not have to have everything in mpeg2... any file went okay. Also, another new fact: I re-installed the whole software package, it burned one huge project fine, and after that, it started doing the same thing all over again!!!

Walt,

Go back to the first message. He can burn existing image files that he's created in the past. It's DVD Builder that he's having problems with now.

Obviously, something has changed. Perhaps a new program, an update, or something else has caused it to lock up, but it's hard to tell.....

Application: Easy Media Creator 8

Applicable Operating Systems:

Windows 2000 Professional

Windows XP Home / Pro / Media Center

Windows XP Professional x64 Edition

Issue:

When burning a CD or DVD, you receive an error or burning does not complete.

Solution:

Burning errors can happen for a variety of reasons. Roxio has found that doing the following steps resolves about 80% of all burning issues. Please give all these steps a try and see if it fixes your writing problems.

1. Update your drive's firmware/drivers. Most companies regularly update their firmware and drivers. If you are unsure what model your burner is and its firmware, click here to find out.

2. Enable DMA. Direct Memory Access enables better efficiency of data. For more info, check how to enable DMA.

3. Be sure that you're media is clean, unused, and the recommended media from your burner's manufacturer. Try a different brand, preferably a name brand, if you continue to have problems.

4. If your burner is external, make sure it is connected directly to the computer via USB/Firewire and not a hub or other other device like a sound card.

5. If you have a MyDVD 5.x (and up), DVDit! 5.x (and up), or RecordNow! 6 (and up), you may need to update the Sonic Record Engine .

6. Finally, a reinstall of the burners drivers may also help.

o Go into My Computer-->Control Panel-->System.

o Click the "Hardware" tab, then "Device manager".

o Expand "DVD/CD-ROM Drives", then select your burner and uninstall it by right clicking on it.

o Reboot

I seem to be having the same type of problems. I made production before with no problems. Now I can't get video wave to burn or even open sometimes. I even tried saving my production to the hard drive to burn from there and all that I was able to capture was the audio portion. I am at a lost as what to do.

FIRST, try defragmenting your hard drive, even if Windows tells you it's not necessary. If you don't have enough space in one particular area of the hard drive, this can happen.

Next, try a free spyware program like LavaSoft's AdAwareSE and Spybot Search and Destroy (try a google search. Spybot asks for a donation, but see if it helps first.)

Let us know if any of that helps.

I tried that... tried everything. Defragmented 3 times, checked for spyware and stuff, viruses, scanned drives for errors, I even repaired VideoWave 7 Installation... nothing worked! What's wrong? I don't know what else to do. As I said, everything worked before, and now it just shuts down in the first part of encoding... And the DVD's that I burned before with no problem (same thing, un-modified) don't work at all now. Is there anything I could do? Will this be the end of DVD's for me? :)

I'll do whatever it takes... I just hope I won't have to get a new DVD builder system... Does Roxio even sell those seperately? Or maybe some better company (for the same price, except better)...?
