Using a network drive to burn

carmen

Question

Hi I need some help anyone

I have a problem burning from and older machine cdrw drive to I decided to use the drive on another machine on the network with a DVD writer. I mapped to the drive and it seems ok but I can't find how to select a network drive to burn to. It only gives me the local drive as a choice. Help Carmen

Or burn it to an image file ( filename.iso ) then copy that iso file over to the other machine and burn the image from there by either installing EMC on it or using one of the many free image file burning apps on the net.

Roxio EMC isn't designed to work across a network - even if you have a home network.

You will have to either take the program to the drive (install it on the other computer and use it there) or take the drive to the program (move the drive at least temporarily to the computer you are burning from).

(While it's not something you are likely to have around, an IDE-USB cable is a handy item enabling a drive to be used at a computer without the effort to install it and then unstall it again afterward :))

I don't think EMC supports network operations. What you could try tho is to move the files over across the network and do the burn from there.

Presuming you still have your original discs for EMC7, uninstall it from the older machine and re-install it on the new one
