Video Playback Freezes

hydrant29

Question

Using EMC 9 Deluxe, though problem occurred with basic 9.0 version. Using MyDVD to directly burn video program or saving to HD as .iso and then burn...either method SOMETIMES results in the video playback freezing. Freezes more on some dvd players while less so on others. Sometimes the freezing is very slight and then continues playing while other times the freezing is permanent, meaning it will not play any further. I looked in the archives here but could not find any related topics. System is Pentium 4 with 2 Gigs RAM and I make sure it is defragged. Nvidia drivers have been updated. Any thoughts or direction?

Thank you as always.

It's been discovered that, on occasions, the Buffer under-run protection can cause that - try burning with it turned off.

If that still doesn't work, come back with more details

Where is toggle switch to turn it off? Looked in Project Settings and Options but could not find it.

By the way, in Project Settings, i noticed that FORMAT is set to NTSC while the Euro PAL is the only other option. I always thought that finished project are multi-region. Have I been mistaken all along? One of my friends in England experienced the freezing as well...could that be bcuz in his case anyway it was not in the PAL format? Thank you.

The (misnamed) NTSC/PAL formats are only for setting the line/frame structure for the TV output from a DVD player.

European standard is 625 line at 25 frames/second - US is 525 line at 30 frames/second (approx)

PAL and NTSC are actually ONLY the chroma (colour) sub-systems and have no real bearing on the standard for screen display, but they appear to be used for the full system for some odd reason

burp - look here

Am feeling stupid here....when I open the Burn Setting and uncheck buffer underun prevention, the OK tab is greyed out and Cancel is only option avail. In your screenshot it is as well. Am I missing something here?

Appreciate working with me. Also, if and when I can succesfully uncheck it, will this also apply when I directly open My DVD rather than going through Classic?

Actually, I tried it again and it allowed me to hit OK. But my last question still remains..will unchecking in Classic automatically apply when I'm using MY DVD? Thanks.
