ggrussell
Lame is an open source MP3 encoder. As far as I can tell, it does a very good job. Here is their website.

cdanteek
meaning? http://www.opensource.org/docs/definition.php LAME is an LGPL MP3 encoder. The Open source development model allowed to improve its quality and speed since 1999. It is now an highly evolved MP3 encoder, with quality and speed able to rival state of the art commercial encoders. The link here and above (ggrussell) were provided for you to go and do some home work! cdanteek
ggrussell
It does just as good as any previous version of converting to MP3. I believe LAME was available also in V7 along with the Fraunhofer codecs. I don't have V7 on this machine any more to confirm that.
