EMC V9.1.068 Causes Blue Screen Dump

jim562a

Question

I am having a software conflict problem with Bitdefender V10 Standard Antivirus Software and Easy Media Creator 9. Upon insertion of any blank media [i have tried Verbatim CD-R and DVD-R] into my Plextor PX-800A drive [Master, Ultra DMA Mode 4], a crash occurs, and the blue screen error message is that a thread tried to release a resource it did not own [stop: 0x000000E3 (0x846AD960, 0x94264198, 0x00000000, 0x00000002). This is a new computer build. If I install the EMC 9 and NO Bitdefender, everything works fine, no problem. I install Bitdefender, reboot, then I have a problem. I have tried installing Bitdefender both Before and After the EMC 9, no difference in the problem. This is my 1st Vista 32bit Home Premium build, and so far, it has not been smooth. The system is a Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 V 1.1, with AMD Sempron 1.6GHZ processor, and Gigabyte GeForce 7100GS video card [single]. It has Kingston Value 2X512MB RAM, a 450W Antec PS, and a Hitachi 250GB SATA drive. I have no problems inserting std CDs or DVDs into the drive, just blank media. Any Suggestions? Thanks, Jim

Personally, I'd recommend you try something other than BitDefender as that appears to be the main cause of the problem

I uninstalled Bitdefender v10 and installed Norton Antivirus 2007. No more problems...very disappointed with BitDefender. Have used Bitdefender for years, and built many XP computers with it, with no problems. I really don't like the bloated Norton stuff, but I guess I will admit to defeat and switch back to Norton for Vista computers. Thanks, Jim

Problem Fixed!! Bitdefender published an update to their Antivirus V10, which eliminates the dump when blank media is inserted. I can't believe how fast they responded to my problem, and published an update to the program.

Anyway.....problem solved.....can use Roxio EMC9 and BitDefender V10 together in Vista.
