DVC 90 Failure

JoeBas

Question

I just downloaded the lastest driver for the DVC 90 from Pinnacle's website. I hooked up my old Sony trv-65 Hi-8 with the S-video cable. The only audio options on the screen were -rear mic, front mic and line in. I set the the capture rate at DVD SP. It works for about 7 seconds and then says "unknown capture error" Has anyone seen this. Is it true the the dazzle DVC 90 ONLY works with Pinnacle software if your running Vista?

That's what mine did but when it happened I could never get audio in the preview.I really can't tell much more other than after a few times of installing and uninstalling drivers and the device I got it to work.Sorry I can't be of much more help.

I've never heard anything to suggest the Dazzle interface will only work with Pinnacle s/w. It does require pinnacle drivers for Vista. Are you using Vista 32 or Vista 64?

Did you connect via the interface or another capture device? My interface only shows connections for Left/Right Audio, S-VHS and Video (Composite). How are you connecting and what are you using for capture?

One other thing - please do NOT post the same thing all over the board. Once is sufficient

Even though Pinnacle's site says it won't work with 3rd party apps that's not quite true.I finally got my Dazzle to work in Vista. The main problem seems to be Audio.

If it's not working then you will be able to capture a few seconds with no audio and then it will crash out.

If it's installed properly you should see 2 entries in Device Manager under sound,DVC90 video device and DVC90 audio device. If you have both and it still doesn't work try looking at a thread at the top of this forum about the DVC90 and look for the link to drivers for the 32 bit version of Vista. It will not work on the 64bit version.Uninstall whatever drivers you have loaded, uninstall the device making sure you check the box to uninstall device drivers and then restart Windows. When it starts plug in the Dazzle. When it asks for drivers point to the inf file that you downloaded and see if it will work then.If not then I'm not sure what to tell you.

It seems kind of a hit and miss thing getting it to work. Why,I can't say.
