Drag-to-Disk and 7.5 D2D - CD/RW marked full

Big_Dave

Question

After installation of EMC9 on a clean VISTA installation on my Dell 6000, a CD/RW created under EMC 7.5 on another PC now is read as full (no space available). The same CD/RW back on my other PC with EMC 7.5 indicates that there is lots of space available. Any ideas? Does the EMC9 installation install both DLA and D2D?

You should be able to read the files on the disc formatted in 7.5, but you won't be able to write to it (the format is incompatible)

To be able to write, you will have to reformat (but then the 7.5 machine won't be able to read it)

Not true! Discs formatted with V9 D2D are backward compatible at least to V7 D2D. Tips & Tricks

But you cannot write to discs with V9 if they were formatted in an earlier vesion.

Thanks for the advice. If a format a new CD-RW with EMC 9 then it shows free space on both EMC 9 and on EMC 7.5. :D The bad news is that I have many R/W disks both CD and DVD formated with EMC 7.5 that I use and I don't like the idea of having to unload the data and reformat them using EMC 9. :angry2: Why can't the Roxio engineers solve the compatibility problem between releases?
