Production is empty/Contains invalid files

Question

Having some trouble with video I've imported from my videocamera using Roxio.

When I try to edit anything in Videowave when I select a video file which I imported usingRoxio Media Import I keep getting a "The current production is empty or contains invalid files." message. What's going on here? I mean, this message is coming from .avi or .mpg files that Roxio itself imported!

I'm importing from a Canon Elura 100 and here are some of my specs:

AMD Athlon 64 Processor

3000+

2.01 GHz , 1.00 GB of Ram

Windows XP Professional

Version 2002

Service pack 2

If they are avi files then it could be a DivX or Xvid codec problem.Roxio will import them just fine it just won't let you reuse them if the codecs aren't present.

As far as the mpeg files have you gotten the mpeg activation warning and declined it?

Nope...I re-installed my DivX and Xvid codecs and that didn't help at all. I never got an mpeg activation warning.

Any other solutions out there?

seems odd that a program would be able to import video then not let you used it once it's on your PC...

This is a unique problem to your machine. If these files are captured via Media Import, what format did you capture - DV AVI or MPEG? Were you using firewire? If you shoot widescreen, NEVER capture to MPEG 2. There is a known bug (16:9 flag is missing). DV AVI is not DivX or Xivd, but a totally different one that is included with Windows. I use DV AVI exclusively and never have any problems.

I captured using both DV AVI and MPEG settings in Media Import. I can watch the files using Nero but I cannot edit them in Roxio.

I don't think this problem is unique to my machine as I've seen someone else post about this problem but they didn't seem to get a response or resolution to their problem.

Anyone? Any actual help here?

Never had this problem with Creator 7. Maybe I should have stuck with that...
