No Preview on MY DVD / SLide Show (DAT File)

Dosin

Question

When I go to MY DVD and I preview the finished product I can click on the video icon as you would on a DVD. However the preview screen turns black and there is no video. Can someone please help. I am not sure if you are suspose to preview the movie in MY DVD

I also tried to make a slide show and when I render it to MPEG 2 when it is done and I go to open the file it says it is a DAT file and cannot play. Can someone please help me with this as well?

The first one may be a video card problem. Make sure you have updated drivers and DirectX.

The second one - the DAT file is not the MPEG output. That is created with a Videowave production file. When you use the 'output to file' option in Videowave, it should automatically use the .MPG file extension.

Thank you for repling to my problem

I have downloaded the latest version of directx and still have the problem. When I render the slide show it says slideshow.mpg but when I open it it says DAT file. Now I get an error message that says cannot render may be a directx problem. Any additional information you can give would be appreciated.

It says slide show.dat caution you are attempting to open a DAT file. these files are used by the operating system and by various programs, editing or motifying them could damage your system.

As for the other problem I am having I now get audio on the preview but a black screen
