Question

Hello you all,

I installed emc9 on my laptop and my home pc this worked fine no problem. no i had to after 2 weeks activate the mpeg codec or something like that on my laptop . I did, and this works fine, but can i also to this on my home pc without any problem .

tnxs for any answer.

I would never put both of my computers in jeopardy with EMC, it is too flaky on Vista. Most of the people here will tell it's all Vista's fault, but the other 100 or so programs I use run fine. In about 9 months (soon) there will be a patch to stabilize EMC.

And where was Vista ever mentioned in the OP's thread?BTW,I have it running on Vista with no problems so far.

WOW, you Digital Guru's are fast on the defense. Having 9.1 on the shelve is useless unless you re-purchase the product. The poster mentioned the MPEG activation situation, which is common to Vista. Having a perfect running copy of EMC on Vista is not the norm.

Guess is the luck of the gurus cuz I have it (9.0) running on Vista as well. You can read my posts for the last few months saying I've had it working. Actually, the only luck I have in life is bad luck so I guess EMC working in Vista is like me winning the lottery!

You are lucky indeed. EMC does run on mine fine, about 80% of the time. Maybe because I use my machine for programming with Visual Studio and Borland products, there is more chance of conflicting software. Some programs work some of the time. Currently if I am in a hurry, I use something else to ensure completion. I have been an EMC user since version 4. I remember went XP came out, Roxio had a hard time getting a stable version, but was releasing fixes almost daily. I switched to Nero, but came back, as this is my favorite video suite.

Bob: You recollections of Roxio and XP do not bear any resemblance to mine??? V4 was never certified for XP! V5 was and only one update was needed…

V6, 7, 8 and 9 have needed nothing to make them run on XP.

I don't have Vista so I cannot address that. But it seems to me you are predisposed to Roxio and Problems and have contributed absolutely nothing to this tread…

I'll go along with James there - I've been using the stuff since v3 and v5 DID work with XP right up until SP2 was released and it was only then that there were any problems. It would work but it wasn't that easy to get it to work, but work it did even tho it wasn't officially supported. v6, 7 and 8 all worked fine with XP but will not work with Vista

9.0 worked with the original RTM version of Vista - MS messed it up on the public release date with a zero-day patch (and it was MS who said that was a 'clerical error' on their part).

9.1 is NOT a new release - it's an update (not an upgrade) and it will be available as a patch for anyone who has a registered copy of 9.0
