EMC9 Deluxe - How Stable?

zee

Question

How stable is EMC9 deluxe if I buy a boxed version from my local retailer?

I still have nightmares about when I installed EMC7 because there were so many bugs in it. Roxio did "eventually" supply patches to correct the problems but it was quite some time before it was stable.

If I buy EMC9 deluxe from a local retailer are there patches that I will need to download and install?

I'm running Windows XP Professional, SP2 and have IE7 and WMP11 installed.

Thank you for any advice that you can give me.

I bought my EMC Version 9.0.610 Deluxe in the box version and haven't had any problems (Windows XP MCE, IE 6, WMP 9 ~ I haven't updated the WMP or IE, because I read somewhere here I think that may cause problems with EMC?).

I am hoping the patch can apply to me tho, because I understand (I think) from another poster, that it should fix the video stammer that occurs after many of the transitions. Right now I seem limited to simple dissolves when working with video clips. Not that big a deal really, but it would be more fun to be able to use the other transitions. Other than that, I'm very happy with my boxed version.

I bought deluxe with a new system that has Vista on it. I also bought xp pro to put on the machine because of the horror stories I read about. I havent changed yet and will likely not.

EMC 9 Deluxe, in my imho on vista is as solid as a rock. I havent found anything that doesnt work properly.

I also like the updated menus etc over the 8 deluxe version.

I have had NO problems, except when I shoot myself in the foot by doing something dumb.

There have been various people having problems just like with any software.Others are having no problems at all.Of course on these forums we usually only hear from the people having problems.

There have been reported problems from users that have IE7 or WMP11 installed.Again, others have them installed and no problems.

There is a patch due that will update v9.0 to v9.1.which version you would get from a retailer is hard to say.If they are brand new stock then chances are you may get 9.1 but I wouldn't count on it.

I have from a very reliable source that the 9.1 version currently being sold on the Roxio web site works 100% on vista.

They should be willing to send everyone that copy, since we paid 150 bucks for it. This really kinda sucks!!

I have had nothing but problems with EMC9. First, videowave won't let me manually create chapters. The advice I got from the forum was to go to edit mode and click + to create chapter marks. Did that but MyDVD won't recognize them. Total frustation trying to get chapter marks set. It will do it automatically, but not manually.

Decided to burn what I had in MyDVD and it just stops working at 73% into the process. I have disabled nortons antivirus and my firewall, zone alarm, and it still hangs up. Despite these and other problems I have heard about there is still no updates to the software on roxio's website. I am using XP with service pack 2.

I am so frustrated with this software, I am on the verge of unstalling it and going to nero.

$150? Who'd you buy it from? You obviously bought a 2 pack!
Or the program and a couple of six packs.:P Since you are in the US the cost should have been less than $120; I you paid $150, get your money back or don't buy from that vendor again.

OOps, I just saw that CompUSA has it on Amazon for $149.95. There are several listings abouve that for $120.

I apologize if you did get it from CompUSA.
