MyDVD, Windows DVD Maker

JohnMoog

Question

Beginner here, please bear with me.

Roxio Creator DE 9, including MyDVD, was bundled with my new PC. I also have Windows DVD Maker as part of Vista HP. Are these substitutes or used together?

One thing I'd like to do before burning a DVD is to join several clips I've downloaded (such as AVI's and MPG's) into one. Can either program do that and if so how?

Thanks.

MyDVD and Vista's Windows DVD Maker are similar products. If Roxio Creator 9 Dell version comes with Videowave, then that is what you should use to join clips especially if you require some editing. You can join clips in MyDVD, but some people may not find it as intuitive as Videowave.

How can I tell if I have it? I searched EMC Help and found "videowave" only in the legal sections. Thanks again.

Try looking under All Programs.Roxio EMC9,Video and see if you find VideoWave.

Yes, I have a 1.28 MB app in Program Files. It doesn't seem to open there, though. Is there another way to run it, and where are instructions for combining files? Thanks.

I also have a copy of Roxio MyDVD Basic 9 that was bundled with my laptop. I installed the software, but when I try to run it, I get an error box saying:

The following codec(s) must be activated before using the application:

MPEG-2

Click OK to activate, or cancel to abort.

Pressing cancel closes the application.

Clicking OK gives the following error box:

No permission - Bad installation.

The program will then close.

I have tried to reinstall the program, and I get the same error. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium on an HP Pavillion laptop. Any help that could be provided on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Contact HP it is their OEM version of Roxio.

You aren't going to start it from Program Files. At the bottom left of your desktop, click on Start, then on ALL PROGRAMS, then on Roxio Easy Media Creator 9, then on Video, then on VideoWave.

If you don't see VideoWave under Video, then you have a stripped down OEM version.

I have Roxio Creator DE in All Programs, under it only home and projects, nothing about VideoWave on the screens those lead to. On the assumption I don't have it, posted my question here:
