disk recognition

living_by_his_love

Question

ok... so when i am copying a cd... it doesn't matter what kind of cd it is, music, program or anything, after it reads the disk, then asks me to enter a blank cd (i'm on a laptop, NOT running vista) it will not recognize the disk as blank, no matter how many times i try or how many cds it adds to its attempt list... help. I know it has to be like a program error... but i just don't know how to get around it, and it came on my computer, so i don't know if there is any way to re-install it...

Thanks for all the advice, but screw it, this is way too much hassle... I've moved on to another program that works just fine... Roxio or HP need to better support their bundled software - i.e. the progrsams they bundle in with their systems. Cheers.

Yes, i think I should've gotten the disk, because re-instaliation is one of the easiest solutions to problems that don't want to solve. Also, roxio needs to actually answer their customers questions, and deffenetly have more customer support. I'm thining about switching to a different program, they are just expensive to purchase.

i have a DVD burner, which by deffinition, burns DVD's and CD's. Its the program itself, i tried a self help ticket, but the guy didn't know anything and just told me to update drivers, which... of course, i've already done, not being an illertiate comptuer person (but yes, i know i can't spell worth a darn.) I fix computers, so you would think i could fix this, but the only thing i can think of now is re-installing the program, but i dont' have the disks, the program came with my computer.

this is really starting to *^$$ me off.

I am having the same problem with DVDs, the application wont accept a blank DVD, keeps ejecting it. My initial thoiught was perhaps you have to format the CD or DVD prior top burning, but doesn;t seem loigical and I can't find any requirements in the application help or on-line suppoit that suggest you have to pre-format the discs. Did you get any advice on this, or have you figured it out ?

Neither of you have said what kind of optical drive you have.

If you have a CD-ROM, it can't burn. If you have a combo drive (CD-RW/DVD-OM), it can't burn DVDs. Adding burning software will not change the hardware.

Formatting the disc (Roxio's Drag2Disc, Sonic's DLA, Nero's InCD, etc) is a great way to permantly LOSE the info, and isn't particularly recommended. Some people use it to swap files between comptuers, but with Flash drives (aka Thumb / Pen / Keychain / Jump drives) so cheap, there isn't much point in it.

Hi everyone!

Have you been able to solve your problem? I am experiencing exactly the same - below are the steps of my resolution attempts:

Already checked/done:

1) Sonic Digital Media Center de-installed and re-installed

2) Computer rebooted

3) HP technician checked from his side - everything ok

Step-by-step description

1) Start -> myDVD Plus

2) Copy -> Disc-Copy (in German: Disc-Kopie)

3) Source DVD gets read, information in lower left hand corner: Logical Volume, Identifier, 1.0 GB used

4) Reading finished, request to insert empty or rewritable target DVD

5) Empty target DVD inserted

6) Information in lower left hand corner does NOT change (meaning although an empty DVD is inserted the software still "thinks" there is a DVD inserted with 1.0GB used).

7) Error message appears (not enough space)

Any help is appreciated!

Thank you!

Yes Lynn, I do realize that one can't burn a DVD on a CD ROM drive or a DVD R drive, give me a little more credit than that. I have an internal DVD burner that I have used to burn DVD's successfully with other applications. For some reason when using Sonic/My DVD Plus it cannot seem to recognize a blank disc and asks me to insert another disc.

You'd be surprised how many post here thinking they can burn cd's or dvd's with rom drives.

Try the px engune patch in this post and see if it helps. If not, look for a firmware update for your burner.
