How do you print contact sheets/thumbnails

grandpa don

Question

Recommended Posts

This is in PhotoSuite.
  1. On the toolbar, click Print. The Print dialog box opens.
  2. To print thumbnails of your photos, follow these steps:
    1. In the Layout box, select As a contact sheet.
    2. Enter the numbers of rows and columns in Rows and Columns, respectively.
    3. In the Spacing box, specify the amount of space to be left between the thumbnails.
    4. Optional: Specify the unit of measurement for the space between the thumbnails. You might use a contact sheet, for example, to compare a set of similar photos without using up a lot of printing supplies.
  3. If you are printing multiple pages, you can preview each page. To do so, click the tabs for the different pages.
  4. In the Print drop-down list, identify the pages you want to print.
  5. To specify the number of copies, select the number in the Copies box.
  6. To print your project, click Print.

Thanks again for your quick, inormative replies. I reckon I didnt know how to word the question. Print contact sheet works as described, but it only prints one of several pictures Ive loaded, not the whole group. It shows the group below the photosuite window, but just the one selected one in print. What I need is thumbnails of all my pic that I load/enter. Thats one of my major outputs from EMC that Ive been doing with EMC7.5 for some time.

What am I doing wrong. Its been this way since I first got EMC9 and I just completed several clean installs.

Don, I thought that you had asked this question before but you couldn't get to the right program? i must have been dreaming.

On the home menu, Go to the Photo Tab and select Print Photos. When that opens, look in the upper right to add the photos you want to print. Once you add them, you will have the options to print a contact sheet.

I hope that Karri's suggestion to use media manager, in your other thread

http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=23530

works for you. I learned something.

NOPE. Same as photosuite, no print dialog. WHY me?

Were you able to figure out antthing fom the emails I sewnt? Did I send the right stuff? Ive been eagerly awaiting your insight!

Im now getting runtme eerrror from either Photosuite? or Media manager

R6025

pure virtual function call

with either \\\\\RoxLiveShare.exe

or \\\\\mediamanager9.exe

one file not read. Too fleeting to record it.

Read and try this post. It involves editing the registry so follow the directions exactly. It is for Music Disc Creator but may work on Photo printing also.

Ive done a clean install which includes a similar edit of registry. I cant open print photos(disappeaars) . "edit etc" shows photosuite logo but wont open either .

One more suggestion:

Copy the following line exactly onto your clipboard (highlight the line in this post, right click click copy):

RoxWizardLauncher9.exe /{D6B44F2E-7F73-40E5-9914-542A9DD7BFB1}

I DID THIS TO NO RESULT> Click start, run, in the run box right click/paste that line. Check that it is correct, including the space between e and /. Click OK or press enter.

That should (does for me) open the Print page that ought to open from the print photos link in Roxio home, from which you can print a contact sheet of multiple photos.

COUNT EVEN OPEN HOME to try PRINT PHOTOS> Are you sure there is such a thing? Im ready to give up hope, but your hANGING IN THERE SPURS ME ON. Hard to open Photosuite directly some of time

If it does not for you, report any error messages. Also: You sent me a file HKClassCLSID.reg. Looking at that again, it is a little different from mine, but unfortunately a little difficult to interpret because of the way the export function works for certain types of values.

IVE SUDDENLY QUIT GETTING ERROR MSSGS

Could you instead with Regedit, navigate to

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{D6B44F2E-7F73-40E5-9914-542A9DD7BFB1}\InprocServer32

Left click on the key (folder icon) in the left pane to open its contents in the right pane.

In the right pane in the Name column look for InprocServer32. See if its entry in the data column looks like this:

YeWsT'M,0?h`@Y0VK`ykPhotoSuite>G($Kf'Non@Eu8W,h7niX

If not, right click on the name Inprocserver32, click modify. A box opens. Highlight the text it shows, right click click copy to copy to your clipboard. Then click cancel, so you don't change what you have in the registry.

Paste what it showed into your reply.

7MfKWm=UR?Er$i*0k@g8PhotoSuite>G($Kf'Non@Eu8W,h7niX

One other thing. Using Windows Explorer could you check that PrintWizard.dll is in C:\Program Files\Roxio\PhotoSuite 9 folder. If mot please find which folder it is in.

YES

Sorry to be asking you to do these chores, but I'm trying hard to find all or any possible reasons why you might have the problemand I don't have access to your PC :-).

answers from grandpa don

you havent bewn dreaming, Im the one with the nightmare!

Ive only seen this page ,that you helpfully marked up for me, once, in all the current hassle, and a printer prob prevented me from using it. Now others may be having trouble getting it, at least from photosuite even tho it claims to offer it!. Theyve advised me to use photo home list but I still cant get it to work. I seem to have unique talent for such predicaments

The fact that when you click on a link in Roxio home, the Roxio home page itself minimizes to the taskbar is normal default behaviour determined by some settings in the registry. What is abnormal is that the app or utility you clicked on does not launch.

There are several Roxio keys in the registry that, if incorrect or missing, might be the cause of the problem. In addition, the problem might not be with EMC 9 but with the parts of Windows it interacts with for those links (DCOM, COM + objects). If you wish to proceed we need to narrow down the possibilities.

1. I'd like to know whether anything can be launched from Roxio home page links. If yes, which do and which don't?

2. If not, can you launch apps reasonably quickly (several seconds) from the relevant shortcuts in start/programs/ Roxio Easy Media Creator 9/ subfolders? (photosuite is in the photos folder; unfortunately items such as Print Photos are not included, because they are internal links, not separate apps).

3. Could you check that you have a file called RoxWizardLauncher9.exe on your PC and if so what folder it is in. I have EMC 9.1, and the file is in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\9.0\SharedCOM; I think it should be the same for EMC 9.

4. I don't think you mentioned it: whatr version of Windows do you have, and is it updated?

If you don't want to spend time testing the above, I can understand, it's up to you :-)

Sorry, your emails got sidetracked by my spam filter so I did not see them. :-) But I've retrieved them. Then Outlook blocked the .reg file attachment and I had to do a registry tweak so it would let me see see that.

As far as I can tell those registry entries are OK. However the pic of the error message (runtime error pure virtual function call, which you now also report here, is informative. If you search this forum for that error (Pure Virtual function call) you will find many people have had a similar error, with some suggestions for a fix, some of which have worked for some, not for others.

Googling for the error shows that Roxio software is not alone in generating it on occasion.

There does not seem to be a general fix, sorry.

Roxio themselves have one article about it in their knowledge base

http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/MyDVD/000110CR

Don't know if that will help, though.

It is indeed very odd that the print screen in Photosuite has a very similar look to the one you get from Roxio home/Print photos (except for that vital button top right), but does not have the same functionalty . In photosuite you would need to create a new canvas and copy/paste the pics onto it, resizing, arranging, etc. to effectively create the contact sheet (but then don't use the as contact sheet option in the print screen).

Don't know if that is a bug or by design, but it has the annoying consequence that if you want to edit photos in photosuite, then print as contact sheet, you first have to save the edited pics, close photosuite, open the print photos app, and reload all the photos.

Same reaction here after reading sknis' post. I find that odd too. Who would guess the difference between the Print invoked from regular program and the one from the home menu?.

I guess in the regular program (non-home menu Print), the images on the right side pane represent the objects included in the current project, which are not necessarily the ones you want to print.

WOW! you all came thru again. This one is pretty sneaky. Phone support dint know about it even

Thanks to all of you for identifying th source of my nagging problemm (nagged since day of Trial Vrsn). Ive never seen icon or photos in upper right corner.

EMC 7.5 sepapates print & edit so you have to save inbetween. Ive used it for yrs. I thot this print from was an improvement justifying buying EMC9! Little did I know.

But I cant grasp the cure. No matter where I click on Print Photos, it all disappears. Sometimes that means its loading but it dosent sayso now.

What should I try next?

After I sent the message I tried again to print. "Disappears"

Then I tried to print single picytures with photosuite and it sits there with logo, but doesnt open, oveeeeer 10 min.

When I click on Print Photos in Roxio Home, the Home page goes to the taskbar, and it takes a little while (about 3 to 5 seconds) for the Print page to appear.

I see you noticed the "disappearance" Ive complained about, but mines more like 5-50 min. Photsuite takes hrs to open

Maybe try a repair of the software.

I just did multiple clean installs but I forgot how to repair from before. Can you send me that again. Hope repaiar doesnt cconflict with cln install.

So near but yet so far to my goal. I actually saw the correct print page once tonite , but it got away somehow.

Jean mentioned similar "disspearance" phenonenon. Why would my setup disappear beyond usual wait time.

Yes I just realised, so deleted my post, presumably while you were responding :-).

grandpa don:

Sorry that the run did not work.

You replied:COUNT EVEN OPEN HOME to try PRINT PHOTOS> Are you sure there is such a thing?

Yes, See pic, red arrow points to the link to Print Photos.

Concerning the entry for the data of the Inprocserver32 value in your registry at

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{D6B44F2E-7F73-40E5-9914-542A9DD7BFB1}\InprocServer32

I hesitate to suggest that you change the data in yours to match what I have (as posted in my previous post above), as that could be a difference due to the fact that we run different versions. However, if you export (backup) the key first, you could give that a try. It can't make things worse than they are now for you and if it does not work you can restore to your current setting by double clicking on the saved exported file (click yes on any warning message).

But if you can't open Roxio Home at all, then the only thing I can suggest is in Control panel/add/remove programs, highlight Roxio Easy media creator 9 entry, click change, Windows installer box will come up, and one or possibly two screens with a next button, click on that, until you get to a screen where you can choose between modify, repair, remove. click the radio button in repair and click next and let the repair install continue. It may ask you for the location of certain files it needs. If you got Roxio on CD, put the CD in your drive and point the installer to that (using the browse button). Or if you downloaded the installation file from Roxio, you may first need to extract its contents and then point the repair install wizard to wherever you extracted the installation files to so it can find the files it wants.

I know you've already installed/uninstalled several times....

PS the shortcut for Roxio Home isan icon similar to the one in top left of the pic.

The screen you showed is the Frequent Tasks and it varies for each person. It may not be there if the OP has never been able to open it.

Thanks for info. I did not realise that. The list of frequent tasks on my Home page was like that from the beginning and lists things I've never or rarely used. So I assumed it was Roxio's choice of what it deemed might be frequent tasks, rather than one updated to reflect my usage (which it doesn't). I've only opened Print photos, photosuite etc. a couple of times to see what they're like, as I use Paintshop pro X for photo editing. EMC 9 I use for audio recording and editing, video editing, data copying, Music disc creator, label creator and such.

An alternative, which I assume is on everey user's home page is
