Fitting 6 hr VCR tape to DVD

M. Boothe

Question

Is it possible to fit more than 2 hours of VCR footage onto a DVD?

I have a GoVideo DVD-VCR combo which I've used to dub 6 hour video tapes to DVD-RW disks which, at lowest setting, will hold 6 hours of the video. (Tapes are old and low-quality). My intent was to capture the DVD content and edit out commercials and do some other editing and burn back to DVD. But Roxio only allows up to 2 hours on the DVD so now need to use 3 DVDs instead of 1.

Is there any way to overcome this? Roxio has no problem playing or capturing the video on the DVDs. I'm using EMC 7.

Thank you.

The video quality will be badly degraded by trying to put this much on one disc. Some don't seem to mind the washed out grainy video that results…

I don't think there is any workaround within V7. As I recall there is in V8 and I know V9 will allow it.

Try a search for 2 hour limit and see what others have come up with.
