Nebmac
How do I get a refund for version 9? It doesn't seem to be able to burn consecutive tracks without slight pauses, and no one seems to know how to fix it. Do I email Roxio?

cramersec
If you bought V9 direct from Roxio, contact Customer Service at 1-866-280-7694. You're joking, right? If you call that number, a recording tells you to go to the website. If you use the contact button on the website, it sends you and email with.....aw, you guessed, that phone number. I have not had the need to call Customer Service, I was just trying the help the poster with the question on a refund. Did you try during regular business hours, 11:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M., EST - excluding Roxio holidays?
Nebmac
They are just ripped from CD with Windows Media Player 11. When I put them in a sound wave program, there are no gaps at the end.

It doesn't seem to be able to burn consecutive tracks without slight pauses, and no one seems to know how to fix it. Do I email Roxio? I've had no problems getting it to burn tracks without breaks. How are you obtaining your tracks, purchasing? Capturing from CD? Capturing through sound card? And how are you preparing them? Are you doing any editing for length, volume, etc? And does your editor have an option for preparing them for CD? Assuming what you're getting is just a very short dropout "blip" between tracks, the problem is probably that your tracks aren't ending on a sector boundary. Each sector on an audio CD is 2352 bytes long, 1/75th of a second. Each track must start on a new sector boundary, so if the previous track ends a few bytes into its last sector, the rest of the sector is filled with silence (zeros), which can be heard as a short gap between the two songs. So, unless you know that your tracks are the proper length, I don't believe the problem is with EMC 9. Hope that helps!

Define "sound wave program"? When you rip tracks from a CD, there's no guarantee there won't be some extra padding added (apparently a function of the drive), which your program may be taking out when it plays them, but which won't be taken out when they're written to CD. Try looking at the files in SoundEditor, and expand the time range so you can look very closely at the beginning and end of the tracks to see if there is any silence there. I just did some testing a few days back (here), and when I ripped some tracks, there was some amount of offset from the original, which came across as silence, and that may be what's getting you. Autumn Dreamer
I also can't get a straight answer and will never buy a product from Roxio again. I used to really like their products but I ended up having to reinstall Windows after Roxio instructed me on how to do a clean install which didn't work. I want my money back because I can't get the program to work for me. It's really odd because it worked fine when it was a trial program but as soon as I bought the activation code and activated it - forget it!
