Adding audio commentary track

talospost

Question

Can anyone help me with this? I need to add a director's commentary audio track to a DVD proj. "HELP" does not explain how to. I want the viewer to be able to have the choice of listening to the movie's audio track or the commentary track. Does the movie have to be mpeg encoded twice, once with each track or can I just lay down the commentary track as a seperate asset and link to it seperately? My brain is fried at the moment and I can't figure this one out. Thanks for any help.

To reubg: Thanks for the help but I eventually figured it out...you know how sometimes it just hits you like a rock dropped on your head? Well that's what happened, I finally got it.

It's easy. No need to add video a second time. Record your commentary track(s) separately. I had problems with AIFF format but none with WAV. Import your WAV file audio into the MEDIA tab of the Pallette Window in your project. Then drag the file onto the top vacant audio track in the timeline just below the video timeline. Typically this would be A2 since A1 is occupied by your "main" audio track imported with your video. You may also want to label the language and extension for A1 and A2. You can use the "Audio" button on your remote to switch tracks while playing the DVD and can also specify in Attributes which track will play automatically at startup.

Good luck.
