Drive not detected

ed27127

Question

After installing the DLA patch and removing the low filters as listed on Roxio's support site I still have "Drive not Detected" under destination selection. Windows recognizes the drive. I've tried 4 different brands of cd/r's (Ricoh, Durabrand, Memorex, SmartandFriendly). I have reinstalled the Roxio software and checked dell's site for latest firmware (mine is current) with no solution.

Can someone here shed some light on this frustrating problem?

I have:

Roxio Creator V 3.30.65.4 (came bundled with Dell computer) CD says "Roxio Creator & MyDVD 9.0 DE" Splash Screen says "Easy Media Creator 9"

Dell Dimension DM061 (or E520) with Windows Vista Home Premium.

2.8 gig Pentium Dual Core

1 gig of memory.

NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE [Display adapter],

DELL E177FP [Monitor] (17.1"vis, s/n WH3186BC4GDS, November 2006)

SONY DVD RW DRU-530A USB Device [CD-ROM drive]

TSSTcorp CDRWDVD TS-H493A [CD-ROM drive]

Thanks for your time spent on this forum for novices like me and for sharing your expertise.

I went to one more forum post with a similar problem (sorry forgot which one) but the reply said to try a particular link which was a sonic engine software pxengine someting or other (i'm writing this on the fly because the burner is working :-) )

I downloaded and installed the engne software and roxio creator sees both my optical drives now.

again, I thank you for your unselfish support on this forum (you may have been the respondent on the other post... will have to check and let you know

Not me - Terry was the one who posted there but I'm glad you got it working.

It's handy to know btw that the pxengine update does work for Vista. I wasn't sure if it did which is a good reason for not suggesting it (now I do know it does)
