JP87
I have Easy CD and DVD Creator 6 installed on my computer. It came with my TDK external DVD burner. I had no problems with it up until I re-installed windows xp on my computer. Everything works fine until I attempt to use the Disc Copier. I keep getting an error message that reads: "Disc Copier could not detect any supported recorders. Please ensure your recorder is properly connected. If the problem persists, please re-install Easy CD & DVD Creator." I re-installed the software 3 times, and made sure everything was connected yet I'm still receiving this error. Any thoughts? (If I'm posting this in the wrong forum, I apologize. I didn't exactly see an area for CD&DVDC6)

It seems there is some other program that has taken control of your drive. Go into system properties, Device Manager and click the + next to 'DVD/CD Rom Drives' and highlight your drive and right click and choose 'Uninstall'. Then click ok and reboot. Upon rebooting, Windows will pick up your drive and hopefully, clear the problem.
james_hardin
If you reinstalled your OS, you probably need to install 'chipset drivers' for your motherboard. Often the full capabilities of a drive will go unnoticed until this is done.
Larry
After you try Beerman's suggestion, if it still isn't being recognized, try this Roxio KB article.
Brendon
And if none of those suggestions work, come right back to the start: (1) What is your drive's ID string? Right click My Computer, select properties, then hardware, Device Manager. Find the DVD/CDROM icon, click on the + alongside to expand it and you will see an icon and text information for each CD/DVD device installed. This text is the ID String. Please quote it exactly. (2) What is the full version number of ECD&DVD Creator 6 that you have installed? Run CD Creator in a data project, click the help item on the top toolbar, and select "About Easy CD Creator". A box will open. The full version number is shown in there. (3) Have you installed any of the Drive Update patches (e.g. DU20041203.exe) since you reinstalled ECD&DVD Creator 6? If you answer those three questions I may be able to help you. Regards, Brendon

I think it has to do with my chipset drivers. Since I don't think I have installed them since my re-installation of windows. Also plug & play doesn't seem to be working that might have something to do with it. Anyone know where I can get my chipset drivers? Brendon
Hello JP87, Your drive wasn't known to version 6.1.1.40. That drive was first recognized by Roxio software around the end of December 2003, after version 6.1.1.40 was released. Performance of your system will improve markedly once you find and install the right chipset drivers, but that isn't what you need for recognition of your drive by the Roxio software. What you need for that is the Drive Updater patch, DU20041203.exe, which is available on the Roxio.Com Software Updates page for version 6. From memory you scroll to the bottom of the page to find it. That patch recognizes your drive, and should solve these problems. If you can't find it or download it, come back here for a little more help. Best regards, Brendon
