canon dc10 mydvd 8

rodami

Question

i have a canon dc10. i do not have the software it came with which in the manual says its "roxio mydvd for canon". i do however have mydvd 8 premier. can it still work? and if so, how can i import videos to my pc. thank you. in the mydvd menu, i go to "dvd and video", then to capture, my camera is not recognized even though it is properly connected and it has the drivers installed... if it cannot work, is there any other possible way to import videos from a canon dc10 to the pc?

It's possible that the Canon program is an OEM modified version to use with the Canon hardware and you may have to install that.

Whether or not it will add drivers that MyDVD8 can use is something I honestly can't say - it may, but again, it may not

It may also depend on how you are able connect it to your pc. For MyDVD 8 to have a chance to work, you'd need to connect it using firewire, not USB.

so there is no way for it to work using a USB connection? i think that in the canon dc10, that's only much the only way to connect it... are u sure of this? my dvd 8 only works with firewire?

You should be able to download the original software from the canon web site here. I could not find the video format that the camera uses .

That camera records to a DVD; simply finalize it (if necessary), put it in your computer and then copy the file to your hard drive. Canon sometimes uses non-standard names for their video files but usually they are mpg2 under a different name. You can try to rename them to (name).mpg from whatever they are. Make sure Windows is set to not hide known extensions in able to rename properly.

Use the search function on these boards to search for DC 10 and you'll find other threads along the same line. If the files are mjpeg, this program cannot handle them but the original made for Canon MyDVD can handle them.
