Music Files Do Not Burn To Cd

mrjcjones

Question

Using a Dell Inspiron 500M laptop with a NEC DVD ND6500A read/writer, the audio cd appears to be created but the music files on the cd have no content. Roxio shows no errors and appears to have worked correctly. I suspect the problem is more to do with the NEC hardware/software and the discs used, but I would appreciate your comments.

Here's your drive and info from nec, The newest firmware is listed at bottom. Don't know what the compatible writing software means!

Compatible writing software BHA B's Recorder Gold 5.51, 7.20, 8.00; B's CliP 6.01; Ahead Nero 6.3, 6.6; InCD 4.3; Nero Vision Express 3.0; Sonic Solutions RecordNow! 6.7 + Pxdrv.dll 1.1.14; Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.1.0.183

What do you mean by "the audio cd appears to be created but the music files on the cd have no content."? Do you mean you cannot play the CD or what?

Thanks for the replies.

To make a CD I used the Roxio 8 Audio CD Maker. All the music tracks were listed in the Add Music window and then burnt to disc. Roxio reported the burn was successful.

When the CD is opened in a filer window, there are the correct number of track icons there (i.e. Windows Media Player icons), but each is only 1KB in size. That is what I mean by no content: no music. Oddly all have a 1995 date associated with each of them.

The 1kb files is what you should see on an audio CD that has burned correctly. That is how the audio appears on all audio CDs, just look at a commercial CD. Have you tried to play the CD?

As myguggi says those are the right size files. All you are seeing is a .cda file. Those are not the music. They are only pointer files that point to a place on the disc where the music actually resides. That is normal for all audio cd's.Like he says, does it play?

While not the originator of this thread, I'm having the same problem. the discs show a .cda file, will play on my computer, but will not play on my car or hmoe cd player. I'm using TDK 700mb discs for these files. Should I think about using a disc formated for audio?

Thanks,

bear

There is probably a setting that is not set right. Try this, go into Tools/and select finalize disc. If the disc wasn't finalized it will act that way. You will not be able to add more music to that disc if that is what you were doing.
