Burning movies using My DVDPlus

Everything works fine until I get to the add movie file. When Click on the movie I want to burn it accepts it but I get a message before I can continue. Can't create thumbnail may not have the proper decoder then this number follows the message -47010. It stops right there and I can't do anything else. i have d/l several decoders from all the info I have received through the forums and Roxie. Can any please tell me what I need to do so I can use my software. I have had my system for 5 months and I have problems with this program every since I bought it. I really need someone who can help. Please note I do appreciate your time or help in this matter

The only other suggestion is here. Not sure if you tried this yet. Follow it closely and don't update divx or you'll have to do this again.

For those of you who tried to help me I want you to know that I fixed my problem. And, I appreciate all the suggestions, sites to check out and just everything you did. I needed XP Codec Pac I d/l it all of sudden evreything in working in MYDVDPlus. For all of you that helped you are very special people. Thx Cee

Great work. I think it might be an audio codec that was your problem but I'm not sure at all anymore. Just glad it worked.

I too, am glad that it worked out for you. I was asking about the downloaded movies, because I wouldn't want to see these forums disappear because someone gave help for burning illegally downloaded movies. Roxio would get busted.

Exactly what type of files are these? Mpeg, AVI, Divx, XVid, Mov????? If the message says you don't have the proper decoder, than you need to get the right one on your system.

Cee, what do you mean when you say the movies are 'shipped'? Exactly what type of avi files are these? You need to get me the properties of these files by right clicking the file and choosing Properties.

Paul I guess I shouldn't say shipped. I go to the site on the internet and download the files they are zipped in winrar as AVI files. Did you see all the info I sent about the Properties you asked for?

Why does it matter what kind of moives they are. They are movies you can get and download off the net.

For a few reasons. an .avi file is just a "container" that can have a number of different video formats, like Divx, Xvid, DV-AVI, and so on. So depending on what the actual format of the video is important because you need the proper codecs for that type on your system. Also, just because they will play in a player doesn't mean they are also editable. You need the proper codecs on your system for that also.

 

Oh, and if there is any copyright protection in them (aka DRM), they aren't going to be usable in your projects. This would be ones downloaded from places like iTunes.

Cee, go here and download the xvid codec for windows. Install it, reboot and try again. I think this will get you working unless you have a divx conflict but we won't know until you download this codec.

Xvid is another type of avi file and you need a different codec for it than you do for divx.

You know I can buy movies off the net and you know that is what My DVD Plus is for to d/l and convert movies and music. So, if you are worried I am doing something illegal please know I wouldn't and the reason I came here to ask is because that is what ROXIO suggested. My family send me home movies and I do a lot in animation in PSP 9 for others. I would just like the software I bought to work. I hope you feel better about this now. Thx, Cee
