new jvc hd camcorder

Question

I've recently purchased a digital jvc hdd camera but it seems to save the files as .mod format. Roxio does not seem to recongnize it. Is there a way around this. I do have another program that will recognize it but I do have another problem. The video I'm taking is in 16.9(wide screen) but when I edit the vid it squeezes it to 4x3. It is ok if I burn the dvd and then expand it on my widescreen tv but it does not look good on a regular tv. Is there a way to insert the two black lines on top and bottom of the screen for 4x3 format?

Just load the .mopd files to the computer and change the extension from .mod to .mpg and see if that works for you.

There are convertors available, but I'm not sure how much they cost, but check here

It says 'free download' but that could mean anything really

Thanks I will try that tonight. How 'bout the other part of the question. Will Roxio let me edit the video in the 16x9 format?

No. EMC 7 and 7.5 do not support widescreen video or pictures. Upgrade to EMC 9. That's what I use for my widescreen videos and pictures.
