Edit Tivo Recordings

jarnoldw

Question

I have EMC 9. I want to edit the commercials out of Tivo recordings and burn to DVD.

I tried the "How to do it" found in the tips and tricks forum. Video Wave does not support the Tivo format. (Or at least MY Video Wave does not recognize Tivo files).

I can edit in scenes and/or chaptes in MyDVD. But I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get those scenes and/or chapters into the main storyboard. Here is what I have done as per what I can figure out from the help section:

Open EMC 9, then open the MyDVD application.

Add new movie (add the Tivo recording).

I KNOW that the help section says to use use scene detection before you add a copy to your production, but the scene detection tool is not available until I have added the movie to MyDVD.

Select "edit movie"

Select "show media selector"

Okay, I am lost.

After I edit the scenes into the recording and take out the commercials, HOW do I get it into the main MyDVD window? The help section says, "To save your changes, click OK. In the Media Selector, an arrow appears in the bottom right corner of the video clip. Click the arrow to view the scenes and drag them into your production."

No arrow appears, and I cannot click and drag them anywhere.

Please help as I am very frustrated.

Is MyDVD the right application to even be using for this purpose? It worked on the trial version, but the version I purchased is different.

You should be able to do that in MyDVD , but you should be using Videowave. No clue why you can't open TIVO files in Videowave because MyDVD and Videowave are the same executable file. They are NOT separate applications. What happens when you try to add the Tivo file to Videowave?
