Audio CD - unable to set burning speed

obrien99

Question

Hi, I need to burn some Audio CD and it seems unable to set maximum burning speed to 1x or 2x. Everytime it goes from estimate 23 minutes to 3 - 4 minutes and showing average write speed 7x - 8x.

Is is a problem with Toast 8.0.1 or I'm doing something wrong? Intel Mac.

Cheers

Radim

Hi Guys, I've just joined the forum looking for an answer to the same problem as you giuys have discussed and so was wondering whether you Obrien99 had achieved success in the end.

I too am trying to set CD Writing to 1x speed to get the best possible quality end result CD which I need for my particular application, but I couldn't seem to get Toast 8 to go any lower than a '6xDVD' setting, which is puzzling. I've mailed Roxio support with this and they say 'firmware problem' but I have also spoken with Apple and they say rubbish. To be fair, going along with Apple, iTunes seems to be able to go down to 1x on my machine, so what gives here? I can't see any reason why there should be a LOWER limit to CD writing, it just doesn't make sense to me. <_<

The available speeds are determined by the drive and media. The last batch of CD-R media I bought had a minimum speed of 8x. I suspect this is typical. You might contact a meritline.com or other major seller of optical media about any CD-R that supports lesser speeds.

Thanks! I'll try what I can get.
