I have a couple questions regarding bugs on MyDVD

nathanjyd

Question

My first question has to due with disc capacity. I bought standard Sony 120 minute 4.7 GB discs. I have Sonic MyDVD. I created a disc and there was about 200 free MB when i was finished. While burning the disc, i recieved a error saying there was not enough room on the disc but it continued burning. When i played the disc on my DVD player, a couple of the movie clips did not work. When i clicked the movie clips, it would just freeze. How come it said I had 200 free MB of space, but while burning there was not enough room?

Thank you for your time.

Videos are about time, not space. You can get about an hour of best quality, or about 90 minutes of good quality, on one DVD.

How long was the total time for your Video?

It was probably about 70 minutes roughly. The thing is why would it say there is space available, but once it burns there isnt space available.

With video on a DVD, you have to think 'time' not 'space'. Only about one hour of 'best' video will fit on a DVD.

If you want to get more than one hour onto the DVD, you'll have to choose a lower quality of video.

Also a 4.7 GB DVD will only hold about 4.3 GB of data. That's because for DVD manufacturers a GB is based on 1,000= KB , but a computer actually uses 1,024 = 1 KB.

Now if you have other Roxio programs like Disk Copier, you can burn an ' image file' (.iso) and burn the DVD with that program. Disk Copier will compress to fit up to 2 hours onto a DVD, but the quality may suffer slightly.
