thehyland
Hello. I know this is not 6.0 but maybe someone could help me. 6.0 was working great only problem every now and then when coping a disk that I mad I would get a sourse error, I worked around that. Yesteday it happened again so I said I am going to fix it. I put the roxio disk back in and now I can't get the disk copier to open up, it says cant read the recorders. When I open up the creater classic In the botton right it says defalt recorder NONE. But the drag to disk shows my three burners. So can someone help me. I have unistal and reinstall about 10-12 times tryied the repair part and still have a problem. I have scaned the hard drive, defrag, clean everything and still problem, I did restore to later date it worked but suddenly it quit again. TOTG
Is Nero's InCD installed? If so, remove it and drag-to-disc. The two conflict, and its not a great idea to have either of them on your system. Also, If you have IE 7 or WMP 11 installed, roll back to the previous version of each. tbrewst
If you try all that and it still doesn't work try this Sometime with more than one burning software installed filters get messed up.This can try and help.
thehyland
Thanks so far. I have had the roxio 6.0 plat for about three years and have had the nero for about 1.5 years with no conflicts. I am using media player 10 and have done so for the same amount of time. The drag to disk works or did work fine, it is showing me the three burning drives. What is IE7? I know there can be a simple fix, download something that makes this program read the recorders for each, creater classic and the disk copier. Next question, just say I wanted to update to the 9.0 can someone give me some good and I mean good feed back. When I updated from the 5.0 to the 6.0 the disk to drag program would not read cdrw's, so I had to format all of them and start over. Next question I dont use the 6.0 but to burn stuff and save stuff with the drag to disk. Is there another program that might be better then roxio, becuase the dvd builder, photo suit I dont use. I love my pinnacle for dvd's Is the 9.0 good or is it crap. Thanks Jerry THEHYLAND@AOL.COM Thanks so far. Guest ml
What is IE7? Is the 9.0 good or is it crap. IE7 is Internet Explorer 7 and it breaks the version that you have. You can get the program to work again by uninstalling IE7 and using Internet Explorer 6. The link on how to uninstall it is here http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=23162 As far as version 9, you need a computer that exceeds the recommended specifications. If all you're doing is burning CDs, you'd be better off burning them with the built in XP burning tool as ogdens recommended. Go to the Windows Help and type ' write to CD ' for instructions. lynn98109
If you are "backing up" to RW media, you aren't really backing up, owing to the fact the it will fade to blank over time. Since about 2002, when a new, cheaper coating was discovered, they are less stable. They generally last months, but can be weeks or years. If formatted for Packet-Witing (Drag2Disc, Nero's InCD, Sonic's DLA, etc) they generally will fail faster. And, of course, different brands cannot read each other's formatting, and often different Versions of the same brand can't be cross-readable. You do NOT have a "great-big floppy-disc", you have a disaster in waiting. For long-term backups use R media, and DO NOT FORMAT. WinXP's built-in burning would work fine for that. Lynn Edit: PS - it's not a good idea to post your email address, since thise are public Forums searched by google and other search engines, which in turn are searched by spammers seeking to "harvest" email addresses for spamming purposes. However, since your email has been copied into several of the replies, it's probably too late now

lynn98109
You'd be better off to burn directly to CD-R making an appendable data disc. Both Creator Classic and WinXP burning do that. Lynn

lynn98109
I get the impression what you think you want to do is format the disc and use it "like a great-big floppy-disc". Formatting the disc is a great way to permantly LOSE the info if used for archiving purposs. Using RW media is a great way to permantly lose info. Used together, you lose the info faster. I'm suggesting an altrnative which avoids at least one of the problems. Lynn

I keep cdrw's for current and about every 3-6mo I burn to cdr or dvdr+, that way I have two copies. MY problem is that my disk copier and creater classic will not reconize the recorders, so how do I fix. I have read alot of post and have done most everything to no solution. This sucks because I have had roxio 5.0.6.0, and nero all on the same comp with no problems for about 2 years now. Then suddenly after putting the 6.0 disk in to repair, BOOM NOW I HAVE A PROBLEM WHAT THE H*LL. seems to be there sould be a quick and normal fix. So can anybody help me with that problem or should I right off roxio for good, I have spent over 22 hrs trying to fix. Thanks Jerry not a happy person right now

My windows can see the recorders, they work, I can even burn with nero. MY PROBLEM IS WITH ROXIO ONLY. when I try to do a disk copy, no recorder is supported, when I open creator classic everything is there but the recorders, the default recoRder says "NONE". every other program in roxio works. Next use this program to remove anything left over Roxizap is at - http://tools.roxio.com/support/tools/roxizap.exe Install from your installation disc. lynn98109
Mmmm ... if you have a formatted disc in the drive, whether formatted by Nero or Roxio (and since the formatting is incompatible, neither would be able to read the other) - remove it. Put in a BLANK blank, directly off the spindle or out of the package. Lynn
thehyland
Again Lynn u are not on the same page, please no more responses about formatted disk, I have that under control. Jerry OK What have I done. I uninstal roxio 5.0, 6.0, roxizap, searched and deleted roxio stuff, scan the hard drive, defrag the hard drive, update norton, full system scan with norton, scan hard drive again and defrag. All of my drives work with windows, I can see them in My comp, I can open with the eject from the comp and not even touch the drive. the device mang says each drive is working, so no more problems. I put the roxio 6.0 in and did a install. everything good so far. once done program says to reboot. Once I do that my system crashes and I cant even start windows. I have to restore in safe mode to last saved restore point. I did this couple of times and same thing. Once I get back to windows in the normal setting no roxio on the desk top. If I go to explore the shared file is there and so is the roxio program. One point to make is when I open the program up there is no exe files in any of the folder. The strange thing is in safe mond roxio is on the desk top and everything works but for the creator classic. When I try to open it I get a "can not initalize API. When I go back to the normal mode for windows no roxio on the desk top. What is API and were do I go from here. Thanks Jerry yesterday I spend over 12 hrs on this dam thing for one program
