VideoWave on Vista - only SOME video files can be added...

hjcerezo

Question

Hello,

I have Easy Media Creator 9 on my Vista 32-bit system and I'm having issues just like those mentioned above. In addition, I'm having problems adding certain .mpg and .mpeg into a VideoWave production. ALL of the videos captured using my Dazzle DV90 cannot be added! I get the following error message:

"One or more of the files you are trying to add cannot not be edited, and have not been added."

I thought it was for all mpegs since all the .wmv files I have add to the production with no problems. However, some .mpg's drag over just fine.

Also, .mov files can be added, and an icon is shown on the storyline, BUT it can't even be played. The error window states that there are invalid files, or the warning window has nothing in it at all.

I use EMC 8 on my XP x64 (64-bit) system fine and enjoy the easy interface. I bought EMC 9 for my Vista laptop because you guys touted it to be CERTIFIED to work on the Vista platform. If there is any fix(es) that you know of (i.e. getting codecs, re-installing/repairing a component, or doing a fresh install) that would be great. But from some of the stuff I'm reading, we're not getting much answers.

Please help, as I bought this powerful laptop so I can run multimedia apps like this on-the-go. It's a Dell XPS M1210 with Intel Core2Duo processor, NVIDIA GeForce 7400 256MB, 4gb RAM running Vista 32-bit, if that's relavent.

Thanks in advance,

Harry

"ALL of the videos captured using my Dazzle DV90 cannot be added!"

Where did the captured video files come from that you captured. If the video is propritory or protected, you cannot use them in EMC. I have not captured any video using the Dazzle 90 unit but I do have a brand new Dazzle 150 unit that Have captured video with (not protected) and I have uded it in EMC 9 Videowave just fine.

Frank,

Thanks for respojnding, but nothing illegal going on here. They are all my old home videos which I transferred from VCR to .mpg clips. I can play them fine, but they don't transfer over to Videowave at all.

Sure would think if after you captured your old video tapes and they played fine, that you would be able to add the mpeg's to the EMC Videowave program with no problem. If you are trying to use them in the Videowave program, make sure you have all the options checked as far as video and audio are concerned.

On most all of the versions of EMC those options are available by checking the little +/minus Icon right above the Storyline view slides.

Frank,

Sounds like a great place to look, BUT... I now have a totlayy new issue. I really needed to get started using VideoWave, so I re-installed EMC9 altogether. Long story short, it's installed but I can't run the program because it says "CERTIFICATE FILE IS MISSING - PLEASE RE-INSTALL PROGRAM." I then attempted a "system restore" to the point before the re-install, but I get the same error. I have NO IDEA what to do. Unless you have any knowledge of this I might have to go to another thread that deals with program install/re-install concerns. So now I'm stuck to my desktop with EMC8 for now. Nonetheless, thanks for your help and I'll let you know how things go...
