Using ac3 sound file with a Slide Show

GaryC

Question

I'm trying to add an ac3 sound file to a slide show and I get an error message that says, "DVDitPro does not accept this file type." It will accept a wav file but not an ac3. The documentation clearly states that ac3 files are supported and I have used ac3 files before in video DVDs.

Am I doing something wrong? The wav files are too large. I need them to be small like ac3 files.

sounds like the byte order on your ac3 is incorrect. there is Big Endian and Little Endian and one is not technically DVD legal. created with compressor or procoder? that has been reported in the pro HD forum. also over there was a reference to a utility for switching the byte order so DVDit will accept it.

Thanks. The encoding process I use is to produce a mpeg2 file and a wav file through procoder. The wav file is then converted to an ac3 file by Surcode (From Minnetonka Audio Software). These ac3 converted files work fine with DVDitPro6 so long as they are part of a video.

They also work fine when I use them behind a DVDitPro6 menu. However, when I use the same converted ac3 files with a SlideShow, I get the error message indicated in my original post.

Why would these ac3 files work everywhere except the SlideShow?
