EMC9 downloaded files fail with corrupt error when verifying after unpacking

mark876543

Question

From my download page I have downloaded ..R03_EMCSuitev9.1efigsd.exe from wgt-dc2.digitalriver.com and ..6EZS0R03_ContentCDv9.1.exe from wgt-dc2.digitalriver.com THREE times now, always the same result: Easy Media Creator Suite- The contents of this file cannot be unpacked. The executable you are attempting to run has been corrupted. Please obtain another copy of the file, verify its integrity, and try again.

I read some vaguely similar FAQ stuff and tried turning off Winblows firewall, cleaning cache and deleting cookies. None of that nonsense made any difference. Running XP SP2, fully up to date. IE 7

I was very careful to check that the file completed 100% and the size was as expected. I clicked the main program first. Got the message. If I click the content CD file I get the same message. I've downloaded an awful lot of software and this is a first. Wonder why they can't make a package that installs without bugs, like most all other software firms can... I've heard the support really sucks and they take forever to answer, if ever. And no I don't want to order the backup CD. If they cant make a simple download that works, I'll just get the refund and go with Nero.

There must be others who've run into this?

I'd read that before but there's nothing there except 'whats the dif between content fole and program file' ... I can just here the support response now.. "please uninstall all software on your computer, do a fresh install of windows and EMC, and reboot 3 times...

This may be worth a shot. Instead of clicking on the .exe file, right click on it and select Extract files. It works well with WinRAR and WinZip.

Make a folder for the extracted files, before doing that, though. Once extracted, click on the setup file.

Good suggestion, but I just did that and winrar gave me this message, basically saying the same thing:

! C:\Documents and Settings\...\Desktop\1Z22TZX0R03_EMCSuitev9.1efigsd.exe: The archive is corrupt

Also I tried downloading it again from a different computer, this time using FireFox browser. Same exact results though. You would think that if the file is really bad, they would be absolutely flooded with support requests.... maybe no ones reading them.
