EMC 9 Deluxe Install Fails

JonR

Question

After a clean install of EMC 9 Deluxe, every application start fails with the same exact error.

"The Certificate File is missing or has been corrupted. Please re-install it."

I have tried 3 uninstalls and reinstalls. Each time cleaning up the file structure and registry before the retry at installation.

I finally installed an old copy of EMC 9 (not the deluxe) and it works as it did before the clean install of EMC9 Deluxe.

What gives with this??????

Count me as very frustrated with the extremely poor error message and lack of any feedback from the Roxio knowledgebase. It only slightly better than Microsoft's errors like "Error 1443".

It sometimes happens when something is blocking the installation (like having the anti-virus running) so that not everything get registered properly. You were on the right track but you'll have to run a registry cleaner to get rid of Roxio programs. Here are the search results for that term; I think the second or third one down talks about a clean uninstall/reinstall.

I had similar problems too.

BUT have resolved it all by having my C Drive formatted and a clean install of Vista Home Premium.

Installed updates from microsoft.

Disconnected internet link.

No Anti-virus installed at this stage.

Installed Roxio EMC 9 Deluxe - works good!

Then installed my other programmes.

Good luck, try thsi route.

Just try a "repair" from add/remove programs. It worked for me.
