EMC9 Download will not install in Vista 64 Bit

Keith F

Question

I have bought the download version of Easy Media Creator 9 and downloaded the two files.

When I try and install the first file "1Z22TZX0R03_EMCSuitev9.1.efigsd" the installation process gets as far as 'Sightspeed' and then rolls back. It comes up with a message saying "Installation Complete" or something like that - but only "Drag to Disc" and "Sightspeed" is in the list of program files.

I've tried intalling using the custom install and unchecking those two items but the same thing happens.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

King Regards

Keith

You are installing a 16- 32 bit application on a 64 bit operating system. There will certainly be issues. Microsoft eliminated its win32.exe and win32help.exe for security reasons. If you want a better chance of getting emc to work you must go to microsoft and install the win32.exe from there. You may have to run your apps. in compatability mode or program compatability mode even adjust settings in pcm to get your apps. to function. I have been able to run language software thats win95, 98, me, and XP after doing this. You can set pcm to run that program after doing this to runwhen you click to start the program and never know its running

I am having the same problem (wont install on 64 bit Vista Ultimate) with a version I bought at Office Depot today.

I bought the $150 version with the Dazzle USB dongle.

I guess I will take it back and buy or download someone elses product.

I tried to log a support ticket but all the support systems were down Thursday 7-19 ~9pm PT.

We will see if anyone is reading the forums.

What a lousy OOB experience.

To earn the "Certified for Windows Vista" logo applications MUST run in the x64 version of Vista. Section 1.2 of the Windows Logo program specifies this requirement in detail.

However, the Microsoft department responsible for passing out the Logo were extremely lax with Roxio on version 9 -- I'm trying to run it in Vista x64 and, while it installs, it has some issues (particularly with the RxFilter driver and DLA). Other users report other issues as well -- even with the 32-bit version of the software.

Best of luck.
