Where/how did you get your copy of the software? If it's an OEM one (one that came with a purchase of a system or drive for example), then it probably doesn't have that option. Most OEM versions have limited functionality.

Is that VideoWave that you are in?

Yep. Bought it wish MADDOG dvd burner.

Ok, so if I cannot do overlays, how in the world am I supposed to get the video in the tv safe zone so there is no cropping?

I didn't say you couldn't do overlays, just that you probably don't have the Timeline option if you have an OEM version, which you do. From the picture you posted, you haven't added anything yet that an overlay can be applied to. You have to have a video, a still image, or a color panel in your production. Once you add one of them, see if you can add an overlay. You may need to add it to the internal tracks.

Okie dokie. I added a video and an mp3. No change.

It says edit overlay... but I cannot select it.

IS there no other way to resize the video to have it fit in the tv safe zone?

Depends. First you add a colored panel (black probably is best), then see if you have an option to add an overlay to the color panel. You can't edit it until you've added it first.

I have added a color panel... where would I got to see if I can add an over lay.

It is not under production where add video, add music, etc... is.

I don't think that you can do an overlay without the Timeline. At least I don't remember ever doing it, if it is possible. Hopefully Larry know the way to do it.

If not, get the full version of EMC 9.

Yeah. Not an option. I asked the guy specifically if the software was fully functional, I was deciding between this one and one that came with NERO. I am not paying for the same software twice. The other version of this burner (with out the software) was almost 40 dollars cheaper. I paid extra for the software.

It looks like Maddog ripped you off. You need to contact them.

I agree with Bruce. if Maddog charged you an extra $40 to get the stripped down version they have, you got a bad deal. You retail version of the suite only sells for 79.99 on the Roxio/Sonic site, and you probably could have found it for much less (seen it as low as 49.99 before) at a local store or an online store, or even Ebay possibly.

You should be able to add video/photos to the overlays track when in Storyline view. It's just not as easy to set start/end stuff for them, and it's hard to do multiple ones on the project overlays if using more than one panel. so I'd do it in the internal tracks.

Now that you have a color panel in panel 1, click on the panel, then on the Internal tracks button. Now click on the Add Photo/Video in the Add Content section. Select your video file, and it will ask you if you want to insert it as an overlay. Select ok. You'll probably then need to adjust the color panels duration to be as long or slightly longer than the length of the video you add.

Thanks, Larry. I remember that, now. But, it is a royal pain in the...... to do it that way.
