encoding .avi makes computer crash

Question

I am able to read .avi files on videowave 7. But I am not able to encode them in .avi format once my projects are done.

But I can encode them in .mpeg...What's wrong with the avi format? :glare:

I donwloaded the latest drivers for my graphic card and the avicodecs too...

Thanks for helping me!

I'm not sure what it is you are trying to do

If it's just the avi files you want, then burn them as data files with Creator Classic

If you want them converted to be playable on a standalone DVD player that does not have a DivX playback capability, then they need to be encoded to a format that can handle and that's mpeg/vob

Where did these files come from and how are you trying to encode them to an .avi format?

If they came from a DV Camcorder, in VideoWave you should be able to do a File\ Output production to.... and choose for DV Camcorder. That should encode them to DV AVI files.
