Bob Simoneau
Does anyone know if the link pertaining to DivXDec.ax is valid for EMC 9.1 and Vista. I can not get disc copier to make a DVD from Divx files. Stays at 8% forever. If so, where can I get DivXDec.ax?

I've had a number of private messages with folks who could not get this to work in Vista but can't prove this from first hand experience. As for it working with 9.1 in XP, I'm not sure about that but think it should and that Vista is the problem and not 9.1.

When I installed from scatch trying to find the C++ error I had, it worked great. After finding the fix for my C++ error I decided to restore my original image. I knew the divx problem was there, just tought I'd try to pinpoint it. After installing your 9.1 on XP was DivXDec.ax in the system32 directory, or was divxdec.ax? Just a guess that it's an Vista problem since a few messages to me after I sent the DivxDec file out were that it didn't work and they were using Vista. When I sent them out to those in XP, I never heard back that there was a problem. Yes, it gets confusing, especially with guessing. I hope that if anyone has used the 'divx fix' in Vista and it worked that they would post and include the version they're using as well.
tbrewst
I thought that problem only occured after updating DivX when it prompted you.If that's the case then it wouldn't apply in Vista because as of the last time I tried the update from DivX wouldn't install because of a compatibilty problem with Vista. Maybe it's changed now.

Maybe it's changed now. I installed EMC 9.1 on a fresh copy of Vista and it worked. However now I am trying to install EMC 9.1 on the image I stored before the fresh install. The image once had the DivxBundle on it. After the install, if you use Disc copier, select a divx file, and burn to DVD file. The progress bar immediately moves to 8% and the status label says Phase 1 of 1 (0%) and it stays there for hours. If you hit cancel, it says canceling and stay there for hours. There is some disconnect. That is what I am trying to pinpoint. Beerman the Vista Fix did not work for me. I am currently reviewing the differences between images. This may take awhile. The install of 9.1 install over 9,000 files and modifies 69 others. Tonight I plan on bringing back in my BareVista image and dump the registry, and then bring in my BareVistaEMC image (which has EMC 9.1 working excellently) and dump that registry. It will take awhile, but I will figure this out!
tbrewst
Yep,sounds like the update for the DivX bundle may be causing it if that's on your image. I installed 9.1 on a new installation of Vista also. The first time I ran the DivX converter I got the prompt about an update.I downloaded it and when I tried to install I got a box saying the installation was canceled because of the compatibility update.I did try and use the converter as was and it seemed to work ok as far as I remember.I'll try it again when I have a chance. Could be that if you had the update on your image that's what's messing it up or could be that the DivX bundle just doesn't work under Vista as of yet.I thought it worked but I could be wrong. Let us know if you find out more.Thanks.
Beerman
Bob, thanks for the update on the divx/Vista issue. I still get about 10 pm's a week to send the DivxDec file out to those trying to do 'the fix'. I think this should have been fixed in 9.1 but maybe it will in v10.
