Copy from an old LP

Question

Hi all! I'm hoping to get info about EMC9 suite before buying it. My aim is to digitize my collection of old vinyl and I need to figure out how to make it all work. I know that the software has the capability, but what type of input devices can be used?

I have an ION USB interface turntable that used to work with XP sp2, with the open source software. That computer died a horrible death, so I replaced it with an HP sporting Vista Home Premium. Problemo. Vista gets heartburn with the software. I got it to work, to a point, by fiddling with compatability wizards and sound device manager etc., but it has too many problems. Any given recording session is a real crapshoot as to whether or not it's going to turn out.

To the point...

Anybody have experience with USB input music in Vista using EMC9? If so, some hints about configuration of the software and the machine would be truly appreciated.
