.avi to .mp4 conversion -- No sound!

bubba52

Question

Hi! I'm somewhat of a newbie. I am trying to convert a number of .avi files to .mp4 to play on my AppleTV. I have been using custom settings for the H.264 player, but have only altered the video settings (increased the data rate to 3000 kbits/sec), but not the audio settings (which are AAC-LC format, 128 Kbps data rate, Stereo Channel, 48 kHz output sample rate, and Better encoding quality). In the resultant .mp4 file, the video comes out great, but oftentimes there is no audio. I have checked the .avi files playing them using VLC and the audio is fine there. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a workaround? Thanks.

I have been using popcorn since shortly after it first came out.

I like it but I found out about another program that (in my opinion) puts popcorn in the past.

It's called visualhub.

It's a program that will do ALL of your video converting needs and is fast and gets updated OFTEN.

The user forums there are monitored by the developer daily.

If your issue isn't resolved by the group in a day or so.....He replies and helps you fix your issue!!!

One can't say that for this popcorn group.

I know this doesn't answer your question about for issue but....

You probably need to install the Perian codec available at www.perian.org. It includes the A52codec which is needed for extracting AC3 audio from AVI files.
