Adding audio to MyDVD project

jjwalker

Question

I have been trying to add audio to a DVD project. I'm lost. I want to take a song, edit it...attach it to a photo or panel...but extend the photo to match the clip. How do I extend the time the photo is displayed to fit the length of the music. I want a 45 second clip, but it keeps cutting out at 5 seconds to match the photo. Also, I am having the same problem with the Menu background music, it keeps looping after 10 seconds. 1. Do I bring a .wav file into the audio editor? I've used sound editor, which I like, but I don't know where to save it so I can bring it into MyDVD project. Please, what buttons do I push. Thanks,

Hey thanks for your help. Even though I read the manual and visit the help center...sometimes I can't figure out what button to push. I have EMC 9 Suite. I was importing full length songs and attaching them to the menu and individual panels, but only 5 second would play. I could not figure how to have the panel display longer for maybe 20 seconds. I understand the panel in the production info you gave me, but what is the procedure for audio for the menu? I like "sound editor" and find that easy to use...I haven't tried the one you recommeded. Based on the EMC 9 that I have, what would you recommend is the best way to bring audio in and edit?

Oh...another issue, I have been having problems burning DVDs. The burner or whatever just freezes up after encoding is complete. This has not always been the case. I have been actually burning initially as an "iso" or image and then burning the image to disk. I haven't had any problems with this process.

Your reply confuses me (not difficult to do) Do you have two questions - one on menu and one on slide show? When you say "panel". I think slide show rather than menu.

Yes you can use Sound Editor to trim an audio file to the section(s) you want, export it as a wave file and then use the procedure to add the audio to the menu. Perhaps that is where I am confused, are you using several different images as the menu background? Are you adding the music to the internal track of one of the panels that has a display set for 5 seconds?

What's wrong with using the ISO method? Are you now saying it worked before and does not now? If so, some people have found that turning off the normalize audio in project setting has cured a similar problem.

Don't do it as a DVD project unless that is all you have. Use VideoWave for editing the project (adding music to the image) and then use MyDVD to make your menu and add the individual movies. If you have only MyDVD and not EMC, then the video editor in MyDVD is VideoWave. If you have EMC, then the video editor in MyDVD is an Assisatant; that is limited in what you can do.

Extend the display time by right clicking on the image and selecting the trim option or the scissor icon. (I know, it looks like making things shorter rather than either shorter or longer).

Perhaps watching the videos here will help. Look at adding music and also making a custom menu.
